Volvo reveals 2025 model year prices and changes for the US market

Volvo Car USA revealed complete pricing for the Swedish brand’s 2025 model year lineup of luxury vehicles in the U.S., highlighted by the introduction of two new fully electric SUVs: the Volvo EX90 and EX30.

Revealed in November 2022, the flagship Volvo EX90 represents a new era of safety for Volvo Cars. The seven-seat luxury SUV further raises the company’s standards in safety and a more sustainable lifestyle. The Volvo EX90 rides on a dedicated electric platform that eliminates the need for luxury car buyers to decide between practicality and full electrification, offering up to 310 miles of tailpipe-emission-free driving range and the ability to charge from 10-80 percent in about 30 minutes.

In the EX90 customers can experience the Scandinavian design, resulting in a versatile and stylish family car that seamlessly pairs cutting-edge technology with modern and elegant proportions.

All Americas-bound Volvo EX90 models will be built at the Volvo Cars plant near Charleston, South Carolina and offered with a starting price of $79,995 (MSRP).

At the other end of the lineup is the Volvo EX30, which quickly became one of the best-selling electric vehicles in Europe after it was revealed in June 2023. Now U.S. customers can purchase the most requested model, the 422 hp EX30 Twin Motor Performance, in Plus or Ultra equipment levels for a starting price of $44,900 (MSRP).

The extended-range Twin Motor Performance variant features all-wheel drive and is the quickest accelerating Volvo ever. With a charging capacity of up to 153 kW the EX30 has a range of 253 miles. This enables the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in a little over 25 minutes.

Introducing the EX40
For 2025 the fully electric XC40 Recharge is renamed EX40 to fit seamlessly with the other fully electric Volvo models EX30 and EX90. The XC40 name remains for mild-hybrid variants of the model.

The EX40 Twin Motor variant features an 82 kWh battery, up from 78 kWh. The charge rate for both the Single Motor and Twin Motor variants have been increased to 205kW DC from 200 kW.

The best-ever Volvo XC90
The award-winning XC90 is a Volvo Cars icon and thanks to a broad suite of technology and design updates inside and out, the award-winning and best-selling flagship hybrid SUV is now better than ever.

Several design updates in the new 2025.5 Volvo XC90 bring a more contemporary look to the confident and elegant exterior and interior. The front end has been completely redesigned to align more closely with our electric car designs and to create a more modern expression. Form meets function when it comes to the modernized, signature T- shaped headlight design (Thor’s Hammer), which is available in all variants of the new XC90. A slimmer shape and lens that stretches all the way to the front air in take creates a hi-tech look aligned with the headlight design of the new generation Volvo cars while further enhancing the car’s presence on the road.

A reconfigured cabin with improved sound insulation and new premium materials enhances comfort and increases usable space for an even more exclusive and intuitive experience. With a new free-standing center display and a new contemporary user interface, we also introduce an updated digital experience in the XC90. Technical updates such as an improved chassis with new damper technology add to comfort without compromising handling, starting at $58,450 (MSRP).

At Volvo Cars, hybrid powertrain technologies are based on the concept of efficient power without compromise. All powertrains are designed to provide high performance combined with low fuel consumption and low tailpipe emissions. The new XC90 plug-in hybrid T8 eAWD has 33 miles of electric range on a single charge and more power when it’s needed – an electric car with a back-up plan.

Other updates
‘Recharge’ nomenclature has been eliminated from all plug-in hybrid models, which are now denoted simply by the T8 suffix indicating the level of power output. This new and streamlined naming standard makes it even easier for existing and new customers to understand which of the models are fully electric and which are hybrids no matter where in the world they may shop for a new Volvo car.

In line with this the C40 Recharge has been renamed EC40 and will return to the U.S. market for model year 2026. Customers interested in the EC40 sleek body style are encouraged to contact their retailer about the C40 Recharge.
