Hyundai is set to unveil its largest electric SUV, the IONIQ 9, at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, according to a new report by Newsis.
Based on the SEVEN concept showcased in 2021, the IONIQ 9 will be Hyundai’s first three-row electric vehicle and is built on the company’s dedicated EV platform, E-GMP.
Currently in the final stages of production at Hyundai’s Asan plant in South Korea, the IONIQ 9 will eventually be manufactured at the company’s new Meta Plant in Georgia, USA. This strategic move aims to meet the surging demand for large electric SUVs in the American market.
The decision to name this model IONIQ 9 signifies a strategic shift for Hyundai. Rather than continuing the numerical sequence, the company has opted to position the IONIQ 9 as a flagship model, representing the pinnacle of its electric vehicle lineup. This change allows for potential expansion of the IONIQ series with additional models in the future.
Originally planned for a June debut at the Busan Motor Show, Hyundai has shifted its focus to the Los Angeles Auto Show. The IONIQ 9 is expected to redefine the luxury electric SUV segment, offering spaciousness, advanced technology, and exceptional performance.
