Mercedes-Benz eSprinter Electric Van Priced From $71,886 In the US

The all-new eSprinter represents the first fully-electric van in North America from Mercedes-Benz USA. An impressive combination of efficiency, range and load capacity combined with a multitude of technical innovations define this electric pioneer.

The U.S. market will launch the 170” long wheelbase cargo version with a high-roof configuration carrying a 113 kWh battery. Starting from $71,886 and offering a WLTP range of up to 400 km (~249 miles), the all-new eSprinter will be available for order at authorized U.S. dealerships starting now.

The all-new eSprinter features the familiar Sprinter design and product highlights, but it comes with a major key difference: a battery-electric drive system. For the first time, American customers can make their fleet more sustainable with a locally emission-free, battery-electric van bearing the Mercedes-Benz star.

At market launch, the eSprinter will be available as a 170” wheelbase cargo van with a high roof equipped with a 113 kilowatt hour battery (usable capacity). The lithium/iron phosphate technology eliminates the use of any cobalt or nickel and is ideal for light commercial vehicles due to durability. When charging at a wallbox, the on-board AC charger has a maximum charging power of 9.6 kW, while the standard maximum charging power at DC fast-charging stations is up to 50 kW. With the optional upgrade, DC Fast Charging is available up to 115 kW allowing the battery to charge from approx. 10% to 80% in just over 40 minutes.

Mercedes me Charge offers convenient use of charging stations from an extensive nationwide network through a seamless integrated payment function with simple billing processes via Mercedes me connect.

To ensure maximum efficiency, the all-new eSprinter features 3 different drive programs and 5 recuperation stages. Both functions optimize electrical consumption and range. A special advantage is the automatic function (D Auto) in which the car automatically defines the energy recovery rate based on the traffic situation. A radar sensor automatically adjusts the recuperation strength to ensure optimized recuperation. The ECO Assist in the dashboard shows the driver when to lift his foot off the pedal and then the vehicle can choose automatically the right strength of recuperation. The three drive programs (eco, comfort and max range) can further assist the driver to drive particularly efficient or with maximum comfort.

The electric powertrain features two new developments: the efficient motor and the innovative electric rear axle, both of which are featured for the first time in a battery-electric van from Mercedes-Benz. The permanent magnet synchronous motor, which weighs only around 286 lb., is characterized by particularly high efficiency and optimized thermal management. The motor is available in two power levels, with 100 or 150 kilowatts of peak output. Both deliver a torque of up to 295 lb.-ft. for at least 30 seconds.

Inside, the optional Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) with the latest software generation features innovative technology based on Artificial Intelligence and an intuitive operating system. MBUX can be operated by Voice Control, the touchscreen and touch control buttons on the standard multifunctional steering wheel. The system has learning capabilities and Intelligent Voice Control with natural language understanding and a verbal cue of “Hey Mercedes”. Optional Navigation with “Electric Intelligence” helps ensure the best possible planning certainty: for example, it updates the range in real time depending on the current traffic situation and the topography of the route. It also calculates the best possible charging strategy to get to the destination as quickly as possible, or to have the desired state of charge (SoC) at the destination.

Further efficiency and comfort is guaranteed with pre-entry climate control which can be activated in advance via the Mercedes me connect app, via MBUX or spontaneously via the vehicle key. With the push of the physical MaxComfort Button inside the vehicle, the temperature control stays activated when the vehicle is parked. This function is advantageous, if the passenger exits the vehicle for a short period of time. The advanced activation function via the Mercedes me connect app further allows to select a desired departure time and set up a weekly profile. If the vehicle is connected to the charger, the capacity of the high-voltage battery is conserved during pre-entry climate control and the optimum range of the vehicle is maintained. In cold weather, additional comfort can be ensured right from the start of the journey with the standard heated driver seat and the optional heated steering wheel.

An additional interior highlight is the optional digital rear view mirror offering the driver unobstructed views of the rear and a distinct advantage when in reverse. With this option, the conventional rear-view mirror installed on the windshield, also serves as a digital rear-view mirror transmitting an image from a High Dynamic Range camera installed in the exterior rear end of the roof. The mirror is equipped with light sensors at the front and rear and automatically adjusts the brightness of the display to ambient conditions.

The all-new eSprinter can be upfitted to a mobile workshop or a spacious delivery van. eXpertUpfitter solutions, such as shelving systems, workbenches or heavy-duty wood floors for heavy loads offer further available customization options for the load compartment. The load capacity is 488 cubic feet and the permissible gross vehicle weight is 4.25 tons.

To ensure carefree electric mobility and maintenance, the all-electric Mercedes-Benz eSprinter comes with a Battery Certificate and a maintenance package that includes the first four years7 of service in the purchase price.
