SAIC-GM-Wuling To Launch Its Second Electric Car, The Baojun E200

Baojun will launch the E200, its second battery electric vehicle, this month. It features more than 200 upgrades compared to the E100, including a longer range, a new exterior and interior design, and improvements for in-cabin quietness.

The Baojun E200, produced by General Motors’ SAIC-GM-Wuling joint venture, has a constant-speed range of up 270 kilometers and 210 kilometers under New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) conditions on a single charge, enabling it to meet the needs of daily commuting in Chinese urban areas. The battery system has increased density, allowing it to store more energy with the same volume.

The E200 combines two parts of the motor and the reducer for the first time, which reduces transmission noise and motor vibration. When the vehicle accelerates to 2,600-3,800 rpm, gearbox noise is only 40-45 decibels, which is equivalent to the sound in a library.

The air-conditioning system has also been upgraded, with the adoption of a low-noise compressor and low-noise fan. Implementing vibration-isolation technology, air-conditioning noise under idle speed can reach levels as low as 42.9 decibels.

The two-seat E200 has an agile and futuristic look. To meet the needs of users, it has 11 storage spaces, including slots in the armrests, special hooks, card slots and a concealed space in the passenger seat. The back of the passenger seat can be folded forward to provide room for large items.

The remote interactive system in the E200 provides users information on charging and parking navigation, power supply, vehicle inspection and more.

The Baojun E100 was the first new energy vehicle launched by the Baojun brand in August 2017. In June 2018, Baojun launched an upgraded E100, which added an improved driving range of 200 km and more functional upgrades. More than 22,000 E100s have been sold.
