smart is celebrating the beginning of the EQ era with the special models smart EQ fortwo nightsky edition and smart forfour nightsky edition.

Defining features of the vehicles in black paintwork are accent trim parts in the signature blue colour of the EQ technology and product brand.

This special, electrically powered smart will initially be available for ordering as a fortwo (combined power consumption: 13.0 – 12.9 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) and a fortwo cabrio (combined power consumption: 13.1 – 13.0 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) from 6 March.

The two models will reach European showrooms in the spring of 2018. The smart EQ forfour nightsky edition (combined power consumption: 13.2 – 13.1 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km) will be available for ordering from the third quarter of 2018.

Bodypanels, tridion safety cell and radiator grille come in black on the smart EQ fortwo nightsky edition, with the cabrio additionally sporting a black soft top. The special model features the BRABUS Exterior Style package as standard. This comprises:

– front spoiler painted in high-gloss deep black, with contrasting element painted in pacific blue
– side skirts painted in high-gloss deep black, with contrasting element painted in pacific blue
– roof edge spoiler (fortwo only) painted in high-gloss deep black

The door mirror caps are finished in pacific blue to match the rim ring of the 16-inch BRABUS Monoblock VIII alloy wheels painted in black. There is a “nightsky” badge in the mirror triangle.

The two-tone look continues inside. With the BRABUS Interior Colour package, the BRABUS dashboard instrument, speedometer ring, rings around the air vents and instrument panel surround are painted in pacific blue. The BRABUS Interior Style package also comes as standard. This comprises: “tailor made” shift lever knob with “smart EQ fortwo” logo, “tailor made” handbrake lever, BRABUS door sills and BRABUS sports pedals. Blue-bordered floor mats with “nightsky” lettering are a further exclusive feature.

The standard scope of equipment for the special model also includes the Comfort package (height adjustment of the driver’s seat, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors and height-adjustable steering column), the Stowage Space package (lockable glove compartment and stowage net on the centre console in the front passenger footwell) and the LED & Sensor package. The latter comprises H4 halogen headlamps with welcome function, integrated daytime driving lights featuring LED fibre-optic technology and LED tail lamps.

The black-blue colour concept and extensive equipment of the four-door special model which will be available shortly after the fortwo are very similar. The most striking exterior attribute is the detachable parts in SUV look which the smart EQ forfour nightsky edition shares with the smart forfour crosstown special model. Front spoiler, rear apron and side skirts feature a striking underride guard, which is painted here in pacific blue.

The smart EQ forfour nightsky edition also comes as standard with the Sleek Style package (3-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel, sports pedals in brushed stainless steel with rubber studs).

The two-tone look of the smart EQ forfour edition nightsky is carried over into the interior. With the BRABUS Interior Colour package, the BRABUS dashboard instrument, speedometer ring, rings around the air vents and instrument panel surround are painted in pacific blue. The Edition also includes the “tailor-made” shift lever knob with “smart EQ forfour” logo, BRABUS door sills and BRABUS sports pedals. Blue-bordered floor mats with “nightsky” lettering are a further exclusive feature.
