Porsche Panamera PHEV was No.1 plug-in model in Belgium in July

The Belgian plug-in electric car market registered a record 1,179 plug-in passenger cars last month, up 118% Year-on-Year.

Breaking down sales by model, the best-selling model in July was a surprise, with the second generation Porsche Panamera PHEV delivering 162 units (new personal best), in its second month on the market, which was 97% of all of the nameplate registrations last month.

The second place went for the Mercedes GLC350e (132 registrations), with the BMW X5 PHEV closing the podium, with 106 units, confirming the popularity of the BMW model in Belgium.

In the YTD ranking, the Mercedes GLC350e is leading, with 1,113 registrations, followed closely by the second placed BMW X5 PHEV (1,045 units), while in third place we have another BMW model, the 225xe Active Tourer, with 591 registrations.

In the Light Commercial Vehicles (N1) category, sales are down 13% this year, with 74 units, with the Nissan e-NV200 leading the ranking, with 36 registrations.

The much expected 33 kWh Renault Kangoo ZE is expected to give this vehicle category a needed sales boost in the coming months.

In the CNG passenger car market, sales are slightly up 2% YoY to 1.292 units, but the N1 category is in much better shape, growing 216% YoY, to 313 units.

As for the LPG M1 market, sales are up 36% this year, to 144 units.
