Leviton Launches Next-gen Workplace Electric Vehicle Charging Pedestals

Leviton today announced the launch of the next generation of electric vehicle charging station pedestals for workplace environments.

The new pedestal system integrates Leviton’s industry-first Evr-Green 32-amp electric vehicle charging station with a very affordable pedestal system, equipped to provide single or dual electric vehicle mounting options to allow users to charge two vehicles per pedestal.

“From our nearly 3,000 electric vehicle installation experiences at dealerships throughout North America and our membership in the Department of Energy’s Workplace Charging Initiative, we’ve learned that consumers desire a workplace electric vehicle charging system that delivers on the principles of safety, convenience, cost-effectiveness and reliability,” said Manoj Karwa, Senior Director of EVSE Programs for Leviton’s Commercial and Industrial Business Unit. “At Leviton, we see more and more companies showing environmental leadership and installing electric vehicle infrastructure. Our goal is to safely offer a system that can deliver more than 15kW of power with a starting price under $1,300 to meet this growing trend.”

Constructed of durable powder coated steel, Leviton’s EV pedestal system provides ideal applications for either indoor or outdoor use. The electric vehicle charging station pedestal system features Leviton’s proprietary charge coupler docking system that conveniently keeps the connector off of the ground while the cord effortlessly wraps around the charging station. Both the charging station and charge connector can be locked to prevent unauthorized use. The pedestal is proudly made in the United States and is fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

“Leviton designed the electric vehicle charging station pedestals to meet the requirements of the next generation of electric vehicles while still providing a cost-effective charging solution,” added Mr. Karwa.

Leviton’s electric vehicle charging station pedestals are well-suited for a variety of applications, including auto dealerships, car rental agencies, city and township municipalities, healthcare facilities, educational institutions and any commercial or multi-dwelling unit (MDU) setting.
