Mitsui Fudosan and NEC to Provide Chargers for Japan’s Largest Charging Site

Mitsui-Fudosan-and-NECMitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. and NEC Corporation will introduce Japan’s first large-scale charging services for Electric Vehicles (EV) and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles (PHV) at a commercial facility beginning in December 2014.

The two companies will install 125 chargers for EV and PHV at Tokyo Midtown, one of Tokyo’s most recognizable high-rise developments, featuring offices, shopping, housing and hotels. This will be the largest number of EV/PHV chargers within a single facility in Japan and is expected to improve convenience for customers and contribute to mass deployment of EV/PHV.

Mitsui Fudosan will install NEC’s newly developed wall-mounted AC chargers for EV/PHV at 80% of Tokyo Midtown’s pay-by-the-hour standard parking spaces. They will also install NEC’s wall-mounted charging controllers which can perform user authentication for multiple chargers, centralized billing management and monitoring of chargers operation.

Following the equipment’s installation, NEC will provide charging services for EV and PHV in cooperation with Japan Charge Network Co., Ltd.
