Rolec EV Launches UK’s First Chip and Pin Charging

AutoCharge-PAYG
Rolec EV is launching the AutoCharge: PAYG (Pay-As-You-Go) charging station suitable for installation in on-street, public or private car parking locations.

The AutoCharge: PAYG is the first chip & pin enabled charger of its kind and could help electric vehicle drivers to access public charging points without needing to be a member of any local or national infrastructure schemes, simply paying with a credit or debit card.

As well as the familiarity of using everyday chip & pin bank cards to pay for EV charging, the AutoCharge: PAYG charging stations can also be upgraded to provide the new bank secure, contactless payment facility which is now being widely adopted by fast food chains, car parks, vending machines and shops.

As well as being easier for the customer to use, the charging station hosts benefit from instant payment for the use of their facilities, rather than allowing payment to pass through a third party first.

AutoCharge: PAYG has now completed full testing and inspection procedures and has been approved by Plugged in Places regions as a fully compliant PAYG system that can now be installed throughout the UK and is also eligible for Government grant funding.

Bianca Alsop, Rolec EV’s Business Development Manager, comments “We have been working extensively on the technical and operational procedures of the AutoCharge: PAYG chip & pin systems with our partners Barclaycard and Ingenico and we believe that we have now introduced the perfect PAYG EV charging solution, that fits with EV drivers’ everyday needs as well as our corporate mission and company slogan, “EV Charging: Open to Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day.”
