Tesla Motors will join the Nasdaq-100 Index next week, as Oracle Corp. leaves to be a component of the New York Stock Exchange.
Tesla Motors will be listed in the Nasdaq-100 Index prior to the market open on Monday, July 15.
Tesla’s stock price has more than tripled in the last year bringing the company’s valuation to about $12.8 billion. Tesla’s shares were up on the news, closing at $123.45 US, an increase of 1.51 per cent.
Tesla Motors reported selling 8,931 cars in the first half of 2013.
Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, said in June that the company plans to offer a smaller, $30,000 version of the car by 2016. The Model X crossover is due out in 2014; its price has not been announced.
