ChargePoint Offering EV Drivers Free ChargePoint Cards

In honor of National Plug In Day 2012, ChargePoint today announced it is offering free ChargePoint cards to electric vehicle drivers from Tuesday, September 18 through National Plug In Day Sunday, September 23, 2012.

ChargePoint is the largest network of independently owned charging stations in the world, and using a ChargePoint card allows EV drivers to easily access charging stations, pay any charging fees, start and stop a charging session, and track their energy usage.

This year, there will be events in more than 50 cities across the United States. Each event will be led by local plug-in drivers and advocates and will include EV parades, ride-and-drives, electric tailgate parties, press conferences, award ceremonies, informational booths, and more. Plug In America, Sierra Club, and the Electric Auto Association serve as the national team providing support to the events throughout the country. EV owners can up sign up for a free ChargePoint card by visiting: www.chargepoint.com/pluginday.

ChargePoint provides EV drivers the ability to search for ChargePoint-enabled charging stations, get directions to charging stations, see if a station is in use or not, check pricing, reserve a station, and receive charging notifications.

ChargePoint locations are included on all ChargePoint mobile phone applications for iPhone and Android. These mobile apps provide an easy way to locate stations near any specified address, get turn-by-turn directions, and even start and stop a charging session directly from a smart phone. Additionally, drivers can locate reservable stations, and then make, view and cancel a reservation directly from their smart phone.
