Electric Chevrolet Equinox Debuts at NY Auto Show

Advanced Mechanical Products (AMP), a company engaged in the conversion of new vehicles to all-electric powertrains, said today that the AMP electric Chevrolet Equinox will make its debut at the 2010 New York Auto Show this week.

AMP unveiled its electric Chevrolet Equinox at the grand opening of its first showroom and U.S. production headquarters in Cincinnati, OH on February 24th.

Since the event, the Company has moved into production of the AMP’d Equinox, and has begun taking orders for summer 2010 delivery. AMP is the only company to bring a full-size, high performance American crossover electric vehicle to market.

By starting with the 2010 Chevy Equinox, AMP’s unique approach to creating an all-electric car has enabled them to beat other electric entries to market. Widely publicized brands such as the Nissan Leaf are not projecting delivery until sometime in 2011, with many others expected to reach market beyond that point.

Powered by Remy International motors, the AMP electric powertrain has a range of up to 150 miles per charge, will reach a top speed of 90 miles an hour, and will go from zero to 60 miles per hour in approximately eight seconds, with a charge voltage of either 110V or 220V. Aggressively priced for a 5-seater electric vehicle at below $50,000 (after government tax credits), the AMP’d 2010 Equinox brings the country’s only full-sized electric vehicle within reach of many Americans.

In New York, visit the AMP exhibit on level one in the electric vehicle pavilion during the New York Auto Show, running April 2nd through 11th at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center.[wzslider height=”400″ lightbox=”true”]
