ZAP has signed a deal with Zhejiang Jonway Automobile Co. Ltd. to make its Alias electric sports car for the Chinese market.
ZAP and Jonway have agreed to accelerate volume production manufacturing plans following successful debut of a pre-production Alias at the Jonway exhibit at the Beijing Motor Show last week. ZAP is targeting the electric vehicle market in China and worldwide markets, making Alias one of the first electric sports cars to be produced in China.
ZAP Alias is three-wheel electric car powered by three wheel-mounted electric motors. The car needs 7.8 seconds for the 0 to 60 mph (100km/h) sprint, can reach a top speed of 105 mph (170 km/h) and offers a driving range of 100 miles (162 km) per charge.
ZAP says that Alias EV will have an approximate MSRP of under $35,000 when it enters the market.
Jonway is ZAP’s manufacturing partner on a number of different electric car models and Alias is one of latest models included under the strategic commercial agreements signed earlier this year. In addition to the Alias, Jonway is ZAP’s manufacturing partner for its SUV electric taxi based on Jonway’s A380 SUV and is launching production manufacturing for the China market with volume delivery this year.
