Chevrolet Volt Ranks Highest in Compact Car Segment

Chevrolet Volt owners praise their vehicles and award the Volt with the highest ranking in the compact car segment in the J.D. Power and Associates’ yearly Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study.

Chevrolet Volt was the highest-ranked compact car, followed by the Volkswagen Golf and Honda CR-Z.

The 2012 Chevrolet Volt receives high marks for fuel economy and range, as well as in engine/transmission performance.

The Volt was the only electric or plug-in hybrid car to win a segment. The only other significant green vehicles to make the 2012 list are the Honda CR-Z and Toyota Prius v, both of which ranked third in their respective categories.

J.D. Power’s yearly Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout Study surveyed more than 74,000 people between February and May 2012 who had been leasing a 2012-model-year car for 90 days, and asked them about the attributes of their cars that they liked. Nicknamed the “things that go right study,” it complements the Initial Quality Study that looks for automotive problems that owners have within their first 90 days.
