China’s electric vehicle market continues to deliver impressive growth, with XPeng and NIO reporting strong delivery figures for October 2026. XPeng achieved a new monthly delivery record, supported by rising overseas demand, while NIO maintained solid sales across its three brands, including NIO, ONVO, and FIREFLY.
The latest results highlight the continued expansion of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers, both in their domestic market and internationally, as competition in the global EV industry intensifies.
XPeng Sets New Monthly Delivery Record With 50,237 Vehicles
XPeng delivered 50,237 electric vehicles in October 2026, marking its highest monthly total to date. Deliveries increased 22% compared with September and 20% year-over-year, reflecting continued demand for the company’s electric vehicle lineup.
International expansion was another major contributor to XPeng’s performance. Overseas deliveries reached a record 13,326 vehicles in October, representing a substantial 166% increase compared with the same month last year.
The latest figures underline XPeng’s growing international presence as Chinese EV manufacturers increasingly target markets outside their home country.
XPeng also expanded its product portfolio in October with the official launch of the XPeng L05 in mainland China. Customer deliveries of the new model are scheduled to begin on November 1, 2026.
Beyond vehicle sales, XPeng made progress in autonomous driving technology.
On October 26, 2026, the company received a demonstration operation license allowing it to conduct Level 4 Robotaxi services in Guangzhou.
The approval represents an important step in XPeng’s autonomous mobility ambitions. It allows the company to move beyond technology validation and begin testing real-world operations and potential business models for its Robotaxi services.
The development also highlights XPeng’s broader strategy of combining electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, and autonomous driving technologies as part of its Physical AI ambitions.
XPeng also maintained its strong environmental and sustainability credentials, achieving MSCI’s highest ESG AAA rating for the fourth consecutive year.
According to the company, its electric vehicle deliveries between January and October 2026 are expected to have reduced life-cycle greenhouse gas emissions by more than 5.77 million tons compared with equivalent internal combustion engine vehicles. XPeng estimates that this reduction is equivalent to the carbon absorbed by 95.43 million young trees over ten years.
NIO Delivers 34,246 Vehicles in October 2026
NIO also reported a solid performance, delivering 34,246 vehicles in October 2026 across its three brands.
The monthly delivery breakdown was as follows:
– NIO: 18,125 vehicles
– ONVO: 8,383 vehicles
– FIREFLY: 7,738 vehicles
As of October 31, 2026, NIO’s cumulative deliveries had reached 1,332,139 vehicles.
One of the biggest highlights for NIO in October was the continued success of its All-New ES8 electric SUV.
On October 23, 2026, the model reached the milestone of 160,000 cumulative deliveries.
NIO also stated that the All-New ES8 ranked first in cumulative retail sales in China between January and October 2026 in both the large SUV segment and the RMB 400,000-level vehicle segment.
The achievement is particularly significant in China’s premium electric SUV market, where competition is increasingly driven by brand recognition, technology, product quality, and customer experience.
According to NIO, the sustained sales performance of the All-New ES8 is strengthening the company’s position in the premium vehicle segment.
XPeng and NIO Reflect China’s Growing EV Industry
The October delivery figures from XPeng and NIO highlight two different but complementary approaches to growth in China’s electric vehicle industry.
XPeng’s record-breaking monthly deliveries and rapid overseas expansion demonstrate its ambitions to become a major international EV manufacturer. Its progress in Level 4 Robotaxi operations also shows that the company is investing beyond traditional vehicle manufacturing.
NIO, meanwhile, continues to expand through its multi-brand strategy while strengthening its position in the premium electric vehicle market. The All-New ES8’s sales performance provides an important boost to the company’s premium SUV ambitions.
