The 2027 Ford Mustang Mach-E arrives with a significant upgrade that makes Ford’s electric SUV more appealing to buyers looking for greater driving range without moving into a more expensive trim.
For the new model year, Ford has made the extended-range battery standard across the lineup, while introducing a new Trail package designed for drivers who regularly venture beyond paved roads.
The updated Mustang Mach-E starts at $39,995 before destination and delivery charges. Although the entry price is slightly higher than that of the outgoing base model, buyers no longer have to choose the smaller battery to get the most affordable version.
Ford has also revised the electric SUV’s lineup, retained the performance-focused GT and Rally versions, and introduced equipment intended to make the Mach-E more versatile for outdoor activities.
2027 Ford Mustang Mach-E: What’s New?
The biggest change for 2027 is the removal of the smaller 73 kWh battery previously offered in the Select and Premium trims. Both now come with an 88 kWh extended-range battery, while the GT and Rally continue to use a larger 91 kWh pack.
This change gives entry-level buyers access to substantially more range than before, narrowing the gap between the base model and more expensive configurations.
Ford has also introduced a redesigned secondary electric drive unit for all-wheel-drive models. The new front motor delivers the same performance as its predecessor while costing less to produce, helping Ford offer the larger battery at a more competitive starting price.
The five available configurations are Select, Premium, GT, Rally, and the new Trail package, which is based on the Select all-wheel-drive model.
2027 Ford Mustang Mach-E Price and Range
The 2027 Mustang Mach-E offers a range of prices and powertrain configurations, from the entry-level rear-wheel-drive model to the performance-oriented Rally.
| Model | Battery | Drivetrain | Starting MSRP |
| Mach-E Select | 88 kWh | RWD | $39,995 |
| Mach-E Select | 88 kWh | AWD | $42,995 |
| Mach-E Trail | 88 kWh | AWD | $45,290 |
| Mach-E Premium | 88 kWh | RWD | $42,995 |
| Mach-E Premium | 88 kWh | AWD | $45,995 |
| Mach-E GT | 91 kWh | AWD | $50,995 |
| Mach-E Rally | 91 kWh | AWD | $55,290 |
Prices exclude the $2,045 destination and delivery fee. Trail pricing includes the package cost on the Select AWD model.
With destination included, the base Select RWD starts at $42,040. The Select AWD costs $45,040, while the Trail package brings the starting price of the equipped Select AWD to $45,290 before destination.
The extended-range battery was previously a more expensive upgrade on the 2026 Mustang Mach-E. For 2027, Ford has made it standard, improving the value proposition even as the base price increases compared with the outgoing entry-level model.
2027 Mustang Mach-E Range: Up to 320 Miles
The larger battery brings a notable improvement in estimated driving range, particularly for buyers who previously would have chosen the standard-range Select or Premium.
The 2027 Mustang Mach-E Select and Premium use an 88 kWh battery. Rear-wheel-drive versions offer an EPA-estimated range of up to 320 miles, while all-wheel-drive versions are estimated to deliver up to 300 miles.
The more powerful GT and Rally models use a 91 kWh battery, with estimated ranges of up to 280 miles and 255 miles, respectively.
These figures illustrate the trade-off between efficiency and performance. The rear-wheel-drive models prioritize longer range, while the GT and Rally focus more on acceleration, handling, and driving enjoyment.
Ford has not yet announced a final EPA-estimated range for the new Trail version. Its additional ride height, all-wheel-drive hardware, and all-season tires could affect efficiency, so its final rating will be important for buyers comparing it with the standard Select AWD.
New Ford Mustang Mach-E Trail Adds Light Off-Road Capability
The biggest addition to the 2027 lineup is the Mustang Mach-E Trail, a new package designed for drivers who want more confidence on gravel roads, dirt tracks, and other unpaved routes.
Rather than developing a completely separate SUV, Ford has adapted the Select AWD with hardware borrowed from the performance-oriented Mach-E Rally.
The Trail package costs $2,295 and includes specially tuned front and rear struts and springs, providing 10 millimeters of additional ride height at the front and 15 millimeters at the rear compared with the standard Select and Premium models.
It also receives a Rally-derived steering rack, 19-inch dark-finished wheels, and Michelin CrossClimate2 tires. These changes are intended to improve traction and confidence on mixed surfaces, including in changing weather conditions.
However, the Trail is not a dedicated off-road SUV. It lacks the extensive ground clearance and specialized hardware found on vehicles engineered for serious off-road driving. Its purpose is to make everyday electric driving more versatile, particularly for reaching campsites, trailheads, and outdoor destinations.
The package also adds practical equipment for people who spend time outdoors.
Built-In Power for Outdoor Activities
The Mustang Mach-E Trail includes Ford’s 400-watt Pro Power Onboard system, with household-style power outlets in the cargo area and at the rear of the center console.
The system can power smaller devices and accessories, including camping lights, fans, portable electronics, and bicycle tire pumps. It could also be useful for inflating paddleboards or powering other low-wattage equipment during outdoor trips.
Ford offers an optional Thule clamp-on crossbar kit for carrying bicycles, kayaks, and cargo boxes. An optional interior protection package adds all-weather floor mats and a cargo-area protector.
These features make the Trail more practical for active lifestyles without requiring buyers to move to a larger electric SUV.
Mustang Mach-E GT and Rally Continue for 2027
Ford has not abandoned the sportier end of the Mach-E lineup. The GT and Rally remain available with the 91 kWh battery and standard all-wheel drive.
The Mustang Mach-E GT starts at $50,995 before destination charges and offers an estimated range of up to 280 miles. It remains the more road-focused performance option for buyers who want strong acceleration and sporty driving characteristics.
The Rally starts at $55,290 and delivers an estimated range of up to 255 miles. Its suspension and chassis setup are designed to support a more aggressive driving experience, including on loose surfaces.
Both models sacrifice some range compared with the rear-wheel-drive versions, but they offer a different balance of performance and handling.
Ford also includes BlueCruise hands-free highway driving technology as standard on the GT and Rally. On Select and Premium models, the system is available with the appropriate optional technology packages. Buyers interested in the Trail should select the required BlueCruise hardware when ordering, as it cannot be added later.
