XPeng has unveiled the G9L Next-Gen AI Flagship SUV for Europe at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, highlighting its latest electric vehicle technology, advanced driver assistance systems and ultra-fast charging capabilities. The new flagship SUV will start at €74,990 and offer up to 591 km of WLTP range in electric variants.
Alongside the G9L, the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer introduced the first large-scale European test-ride campaign for its next-generation Navigation Guided Pilot (NGP), powered by the VLA 2.0 artificial intelligence system. XPeng also announced new opportunities for technology partnerships with global automotive companies as it continues to expand its international operations.
XPeng G9L: A New Flagship SUV for Europe
The XPeng G9L takes center stage as the company’s latest flagship SUV, combining intelligent driving technology, advanced safety systems, premium comfort and long-distance driving capability. Designed for both family and business use, the model will be available with six- and seven-seat configurations.
Safety is a major focus of the G9L. The SUV comes with nine airbags as standard, automatic emergency braking at speeds of up to 150 km/h and stability support designed to help maintain control following a tire blowout.
XPeng says the vehicle underwent three years of testing across 26 countries and regions, covering more than 6.74 million kilometers. The extensive testing program reflects the company’s efforts to adapt its flagship SUV to different road conditions and driving environments.
Inside, the G9L features a sophisticated chassis and luxury AI-Adaptive Front Seaters, with an emphasis on comfort for longer journeys. Its combination of passenger space, intelligent technology and high-performance charging is intended to make it competitive in Europe’s premium electric SUV segment.
Electric versions will offer up to 591 km of range under the WLTP testing cycle. The SUV’s 800-volt electrical architecture and 5C fast-charging technology can recharge the battery from 10% to 80% in as little as 11.7 minutes under suitable charging conditions.
The G9L has also completed a successful production trial at Magna’s facility in Graz, Austria. XPeng plans to make it the fourth model in its lineup manufactured in Europe, reinforcing the company’s commitment to expanding its local production capabilities.
XPeng NGP Brings VLA 2.0 AI Driving Technology to Europe
The G9L was not the only major announcement from XPeng at the Paris Motor Show. The company also demonstrated its next-generation NGP driver assistance system, powered by VLA 2.0 and supported by proprietary Turing AI chips.
The technology combines 4D spatiotemporal understanding with the ability to generalize across different roads and unfamiliar driving situations. According to XPeng, VLA 2.0 can retain up to 30 seconds of contextual information and predict how a driving scenario may develop up to six seconds ahead.
This capability is designed to help the system interpret changing traffic conditions, anticipate potential hazards and respond more effectively to complex road environments.
Paris provided a demanding setting for the first large-scale European public test-ride campaign. Demonstrations included roundabouts, narrow streets, motorcycle traffic, pedestrian crossings and complicated right-of-way situations — all common challenges for drivers navigating European cities.
XPeng is also showcasing NGP at the Paris Motor Show’s official Autonomous Lab, where it is one of only two participating automakers.
The company aims to become the world’s first certified automaker to meet UNECE UN Regulation No. 171, Series 02, as part of its efforts to support the wider international deployment of advanced driving software.
The demonstrations mark an important step in XPeng’s efforts to validate its AI-powered driving technology under European conditions. However, the availability and permitted functions of such systems will depend on applicable regulations, certification and market-specific approvals.
XPeng Showcases Its Physical AI Vision in Paris
Beyond electric cars, XPeng used the Paris Motor Show to present a broader vision of what it calls Physical AI.
The company’s 1,008-square-meter exhibition stand in Hall 6, Stand A51, was transformed into a so-called Physical AI Museum, bringing together intelligent vehicles, humanoid robots, flying mobility concepts and the technologies connecting these different platforms.
The display includes 11 vehicles, among them the G9L, L03, P7+, G6, G9 and X9, alongside a Land Aircraft Carrier and two IRON humanoid robots.
Dedicated technology areas highlight VLA 2.0, the Turing AI Chip and XPeng’s developments in robotics and flying mobility. The IRON humanoid robot, designed as a general-purpose robotic platform, is planned for a global rollout in 2027.
By showcasing these technologies together, XPeng is positioning itself as more than an electric vehicle manufacturer, with ambitions spanning AI software, robotics and emerging mobility solutions.
XPeng Expands Its European Manufacturing and R&D Strategy
XPeng’s latest announcements also reflect its stated approach of operating “In Europe, For Europe, With Europe.”
The company says its global network now spans 82 countries and regions, supported by eight research and development centers, six manufacturing bases and 1,283 stores.
In Europe, XPeng is expanding its vehicle lineup while developing local engineering and production capabilities. Its European R&D operations focus on areas such as vehicle homologation, language interaction, chassis tuning, charging integration and validation of intelligent driving systems.
Local manufacturing with Magna in Austria began in the third quarter of 2025, providing a foundation for XPeng to increase its European production footprint.
The planned addition of the G9L to the European-built lineup would represent another step in that strategy. At the same time, testing NGP on European roads gives the company an opportunity to adapt its driver assistance technology to local traffic patterns, road layouts and regulatory requirements.
With a starting price of €74,990, up to 591 km of WLTP range and charging from 10% to 80% in as little as 11.7 minutes, the XPeng G9L is targeting buyers seeking a premium electric SUV with a strong emphasis on technology and long-distance usability.
Its six- and seven-seat configurations could also appeal to larger families, while the planned European production adds another dimension to XPeng’s expansion strategy.
The G9L’s success will depend on more than its headline specifications. Real-world range, charging performance, final market equipment, local pricing and the availability of its advanced driving functions will all influence its competitiveness against established premium electric SUVs.
For XPeng, however, the Paris Motor Show represents a broader milestone. The company is using its latest flagship, AI-powered driving technology and European manufacturing ambitions to strengthen its position in one of the world’s most competitive electric vehicle markets.
