MOKE International has unveiled the new all-electric MOKE Mk2 at the Paris Motor Show, introducing a more practical version of its distinctive open-air beach car. The latest model brings a larger-capacity battery, a claimed driving range of 170 km, improved storage and a series of comfort and convenience upgrades.
Designed and built in Britain, the Electric MOKE Mk2 retains the retro-inspired character of the original MOKE while introducing features intended to make everyday use and coastal adventures more convenient. The model targets drivers looking for a compact electric vehicle that prioritizes open-air motoring, leisure and distinctive styling over conventional everyday transportation.
The new Electric MOKE Mk2 has a recommended retail price of €35,000 and is available to test drive, rent or purchase in several European markets.
Electric MOKE Mk2 Gets 170 km of Range
One of the most significant updates is the higher-capacity battery, which delivers a claimed range of up to 170 km on a single charge. The additional range gives drivers more flexibility for coastal trips, beach visits and short leisure journeys.
Power comes from a 33 kW electric motor. MOKE International has also revised the vehicle layout to improve weight distribution and handling, aiming to deliver a more refined driving experience while preserving the model’s lightweight, open-air character.
Although its range remains modest compared with conventional electric cars, the MOKE Mk2 is designed for a different purpose. Its appeal lies in relaxed driving, sunny destinations and short-distance exploration rather than long motorway journeys.
Charging From 20% to 80% in Two Hours
The updated Electric MOKE features a 6.6 kW onboard charger, allowing the battery to charge from 20% to 80% in approximately two hours under suitable charging conditions.
The charging port has also been relocated to the rear of the vehicle, creating a cleaner exterior appearance. The charging improvements are intended to make it easier for owners to fit recharging into their daily routines and leisure plans.
While the Mk2 is not designed around long-distance touring, its charging capability should suit drivers who can recharge between outings or while parked at a destination.
More Storage and a More Practical Interior
Practicality receives particular attention in the new Electric MOKE Mk2. The vehicle now features an 86-litre lockable front storage compartment, providing space for personal belongings, beach equipment and other essentials.
Moving items out of the passenger area can also help occupants enjoy a less cluttered cabin, an important consideration in a compact, open-air vehicle.
The central control panel has been redesigned with a clearer layout, while a rotary gear selector and more visible warning lights aim to make the vehicle easier to operate.
Additional interior improvements include wider footwells, USB-C connectivity, a 12V power outlet and rear cup holders. These additions bring useful everyday conveniences to a vehicle whose main selling point remains its uncomplicated, open-air driving experience.
Electric MOKE Mk2 Expands Its Colour Options
Buyers in Europe will have more colour choices than before, with MOKE International expanding the available finishes to include shades from its California Collection.
The California Collection introduces Sonoma Red, Laguna Blue and Venice White to European customers. These colours join the Original Colour Collection, which includes Wave Blue, Sunlight Yellow and Sunset Orange.
The Earth Naturals range adds Shell White, Eucalyptus Green and Palm Green, offering a more understated alternative to the brighter finishes.
The expanded palette gives buyers more ways to personalize the Electric MOKE Mk2 while preserving the distinctive styling associated with the brand.
Electric MOKE Mk2 Price and Availability
The new Electric MOKE Mk2 carries a recommended retail price of €35,000. According to MOKE International, the model is available to test drive, rent or buy in several European markets.
Its combination of open-air driving, electric propulsion and retro-inspired design places it in a niche of its own. Rather than competing directly with mainstream electric hatchbacks and SUVs on range, performance or passenger capacity, the MOKE focuses on lifestyle appeal and short-distance mobility.
The 170 km range, improved charging capability and additional storage make the Mk2 a more practical evolution of the electric beach car. However, its relatively high price and limited range mean it will appeal primarily to buyers who value its distinctive character and recreational use.
For drivers seeking an unusual electric vehicle for coastal destinations, holiday homes or relaxed urban trips, the Electric MOKE Mk2 offers a fresh take on the classic open-air motoring concept.
