The Range Rover Sport Electric has officially opened for orders in the UK, marking the first time the performance-focused luxury SUV has been offered with a fully electric powertrain.
Combining 550 PS (542 hp), 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque and a 118.5-kWh battery, the new electric SUV is designed to deliver the performance, refinement and off-road capability expected from the Range Rover Sport lineup.
UK pricing starts at around £110,000 for the Dynamic SE, while deliveries are scheduled to begin next year. The Range Rover Sport Electric is also planned for the U.S., although an official launch date has not yet been confirmed.
Range Rover Sport Electric Delivers 550 PS and 850 Nm
The Range Rover Sport Electric uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with two 260-kW electric motors. The powertrain produces up to 550 PS (542 hp) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft), making it the most powerful torque output offered in a Range Rover Sport to date.
With Dynamic Launch Mode activated, the electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 4.3 seconds, matching the performance of the P540 V8-powered Range Rover Sport.
Range Rover says the electric powertrain also delivers torque more rapidly than the Range Rover Electric, with torque ramp-up occurring 50% faster.
The company has focused heavily on chassis tuning to make the Sport Electric feel like a performance SUV rather than simply an electrified version of the existing model. Its suspension and handling technology includes Dynamic Air Suspension, electronic Active Roll Control, Twin Valve Dampers, Adaptive Dynamics 2, All-Wheel Steering and virtual all-wheel drive.
Adaptive Dynamics 2 monitors 100 parameters up to 500 times per second, while the electronic Active Roll Control system can apply up to 1,400 Nm of force across each axle to help control body movement.
378 Miles of Range From a 118.5-kWh Battery
The Range Rover Sport Electric is equipped with a 118.5-kWh lithium-ion battery housed in a high-strength aluminum enclosure.
Range Rover estimates up to 378 miles (609 km) of WLTP range, with a real-world range of up to 333 miles. That gives the luxury SUV enough range for most daily driving without frequent charging stops.
An 800-volt electrical architecture supports high-power DC charging. Range Rover says the Sport Electric can add up to 136 miles (220 km) of range in as little as 10 minutes when using a suitable rapid charger.
A 10% to 80% charge takes around 22 minutes under optimal conditions.
The SUV also features JLR’s ThermAssist heat-management technology, designed to help maximize efficiency and electric driving range across different conditions.
Owners can use the Range Rover app to locate and schedule charging, while an optional home charger is available for convenient overnight charging.
Built for More Than Just the Road
Despite its performance focus, Range Rover has not compromised the Sport Electric’s off-road credentials.
The electric SUV can wade through up to 900 mm (35.4 inches) of water and tackle gradients of up to 45 degrees. Its virtual all-wheel-drive system and intelligent traction management are designed to provide precise control across changing surfaces.
Range Rover recently completed the vehicle’s final development testing in the Carrara marble quarries in Italy, where the Sport Electric was subjected to steep gradients, extreme temperatures and constantly changing surfaces ranging from polished marble to loose marble dust.
All-Wheel Steering also helps the large SUV negotiate tight turns without requiring multiple-point maneuvers.
The vehicle’s body structure is reportedly 61% stiffer than the Range Rover Sport PHEV, while its center of gravity is 73 mm lower. Those changes, combined with the electric powertrain’s instant torque, are intended to improve stability and responsiveness.
Subtle Design Changes and Familiar Luxury Interior
The Range Rover Sport Electric retains the muscular proportions and overall design language of the existing Sport, with several aerodynamic changes identifying it as the electric model.
An optimized front grille and redesigned alloy wheels help improve aerodynamic efficiency and can contribute up to 10 additional miles of range at motorway speeds.
Inside, the cabin remains familiar, with a 13.1-inch curved touchscreen running Range Rover’s Pivi Pro infotainment system and a 13.7-inch digital instrument display.
Range Rover is also offering several versions of the electric SUV, including Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, Autobiography and First Edition specifications.
The First Edition features a Zadar Grey finish with a Satin Wrap, black contrast roof and 22-inch wheels. Buyers choosing the Autobiography model can also access Range Rover’s Bespoke commissioning service for additional exterior colors, materials and personalization options.
Range Rover Sport Electric Pricing and Availability
Orders for the Range Rover Sport Electric are now open in the UK, with the Dynamic SE starting at approximately £110,000.
That puts it significantly below the flagship Range Rover Electric, which starts at around £154,070 in the UK.
The Range Rover Sport Electric will be built at JLR’s Solihull plant in the UK alongside petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions of the SUV.
For U.S. buyers, the electric Range Rover Sport is expected to arrive later, potentially as a 2028 model, although Range Rover has not yet confirmed final U.S. pricing or an exact launch date.
The new electric SUV also comes with an eight-year or 100,000-mile battery warranty. A Battery Digital Twin is designed to help JLR monitor battery condition and support proactive maintenance through over-the-air software updates.
With its combination of 550 PS, 850 Nm of torque, a 378-mile WLTP range, rapid 800V charging and genuine off-road capability, the Range Rover Sport Electric is positioned as a high-performance alternative to conventional luxury SUVs without abandoning the characteristics that have defined the Sport name.
