EVgo has opened a new flagship fast-charging station in metropolitan Detroit, expanding access to high-power EV charging in one of Michigan’s key automotive markets.
The new station, developed in partnership with Midwest retailer Meijer, brings EVgo’s nationwide flagship charging network to more than 40 stalls. The company expects to have more than 100 flagship charging stalls online by the end of 2026, with support from General Motors as part of its broader effort to accelerate EV adoption in the U.S.
New EVgo Charging Station Offers 350 kW Charging
Located at the Meijer store in Warren, Michigan, directly across from General Motors’ Global Technical Center, the new EVgo station is designed around convenience and high-power charging.
The site features 12 charging stalls with both CCS and NACS connectors, along with charging speeds of up to 350 kW. Depending on the vehicle, EVgo says the chargers can deliver enough energy for a full charge in as little as 15 minutes.
The station also includes an overhead canopy and pull-through charging spaces, allowing EV drivers towing trailers to access the chargers more easily.
Its location at Meijer gives drivers access to grocery shopping and other amenities while their vehicles charge, reflecting EVgo’s strategy of placing large charging hubs where drivers already spend time.
EVgo Expanding Its Flagship Charging Network
EVgo’s flagship stations are intended to provide a more convenient charging experience than smaller standalone charging locations. The company says flagship sites will average up to 20 stalls per location, with enhanced lighting, high-power chargers and convenient access to shopping, dining, groceries and other services.
The company plans to build flagship charging stations in California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan and Texas.
The expansion comes as EV adoption continues to grow in Michigan. According to EVgo, the number of EVs in operation across the state increased sixfold between 2021 and 2025, increasing demand for faster and more accessible public charging.
GM and EVgo Continue Charging Infrastructure Partnership
General Motors is playing a significant role in EVgo’s charging expansion. The automaker has supported the deployment of nearly 2,400 EVgo charging stalls across 32 states.
EVgo, GM and Pilot Company have also expanded their collaborative fast-charging network to more than 1,300 stalls at 300 locations across 40 states.
The partnerships are designed to make long-distance EV travel easier while giving drivers greater access to high-power charging near major roads, retailers and other convenient destinations.
For GM, expanding public charging is also an important part of supporting its growing electric vehicle lineup. The company currently offers 12 EV models and sees broader access to reliable fast charging as a key factor in encouraging more consumers to switch to electric vehicles.
The new EVgo station at Meijer in Warren adds another high-power charging option to Michigan’s growing EV infrastructure and highlights the increasingly important role retailers, automakers and charging companies are playing in the transition to electric transportation.
