Buick ELECTRA L7 BEV Opens Pre-Sale in China With 702 km Range and 6C Fast Charging

Buick has officially opened pre-sales for the new ELECTRA L7 BEV in China, expanding its premium ELECTRA electric vehicle lineup with a fully electric flagship sedan.

The new battery-electric model joins the ELECTRA L7 extended-range version launched previously, but brings a dedicated EV powertrain, an 800-volt electrical architecture and ultra-fast 6C charging technology.

Designed with couples and young families in mind, the ELECTRA L7 BEV combines long driving range, rapid charging and advanced technology with a strong focus on passenger comfort.

Pre-sale pricing starts at RMB 169,900 (about $25,200) and rises to RMB 206,900 (about $30,700), after national subsidies. The electric sedan is available in three versions: 702 Luxury, 702 Luxury Plus and 702 Avenir.

Up to 702 km of CLTC Range

All three ELECTRA L7 BEV variants use an 80.6-kWh CATL battery pack and an 800V high-voltage electrical architecture.

The sedan offers up to 702 km of CLTC range, potentially allowing many owners to follow a once-a-week charging routine for everyday driving.

One of the vehicle’s biggest highlights is its 6C ultra-fast charging capability. Under suitable charging conditions, the battery can gain approximately 450 km of range in around 10 minutes.

That combination of long range and rapid charging is designed to make the ELECTRA L7 more practical for both daily commuting and longer journeys.

Power comes from a rear-mounted electric motor producing up to 282 kW (378 hp) and 382 Nm of torque. In Boost mode, the ELECTRA L7 BEV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.

The vehicle also supports 6-kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, allowing owners to power multiple external devices. Buick highlights applications such as electric ovens, coffee machines and projectors for outdoor activities.

New Battery Technology Targets Long-Term Durability

Buick is also highlighting the battery management technology used in the ELECTRA L7 BEV.

The model introduces a 55°C temperature-controlled ultra-fast charging system. During rapid charging, the system is designed to keep peak cell temperatures below 55°C, compared with China’s 65°C national limit.

Buick says the technology is intended to help reduce battery degradation and support battery durability for as much as 800,000 km of use.

The battery pack also incorporates a five-layer underbody protection structure designed to help protect the cells from impacts underneath the vehicle.

A Luxury-Focused Interior

The ELECTRA L7 BEV puts considerable emphasis on cabin comfort, with Buick describing the interior as a “floating de-stress cabin.”

The cabin uses laminated glass and extensive sound insulation to create a quieter environment. The 6-mm laminated glass is complemented by an automatic PM2.5 filtration system and intelligent CO₂ management.

Multi-zone climate control with automatic dehumidification is designed to maintain a comfortable cabin environment across different weather conditions.

The main seats feature electric lumbar adjustment, ventilation, heating and massage functions. The front passenger seat adds a dual 120-degree zero-gravity reclining function designed to provide a more relaxed seating position.

Other premium features include a large PDLC smart panoramic roof, a 27-speaker premium audio system with headrest speakers and an integrated fragrance system.

“Magic Carpet” Suspension Adds Extra Comfort

Buick has equipped the ELECTRA L7 BEV with RTD continuous damping control suspension across the lineup.

Higher-specification versions add a preview “magic carpet” chassis system that uses road-scanning technology to detect upcoming road imperfections and adjust the suspension before the vehicle reaches them.

The system can make hundreds of damping adjustments per second to help smooth out bumps, speed humps, manhole covers and other uneven surfaces.

The result is intended to be a more controlled ride for the driver while improving comfort for passengers.

Safety Goes Beyond China’s Minimum Requirements

Safety is another major focus of the new Buick electric sedan.

The ELECTRA L7 BEV uses a cage-style passenger compartment incorporating a high proportion of high-strength steel and aluminum. Extended side curtain airbags are designed to provide additional protection for occupants in both the front and rear seats.

Buick says the vehicle completed 77 crash tests during development, including pole impacts, offset collisions and truck under-ride scenarios.

The battery pack features additional structural protection underneath the vehicle, while testing and validation reportedly went beyond China’s national requirements.

Buick ELECTRA L7 BEV: Key Specifications

The new ELECTRA L7 BEV combines several technologies that are becoming increasingly important in China’s rapidly developing EV market.

It offers a 702-km CLTC range, an 800V architecture, 6C charging and the ability to add around 450 km of claimed range in approximately 10 minutes under suitable conditions.

With pre-sale pricing beginning at RMB 169,900 (about $25,200), Buick is positioning the ELECTRA L7 BEV as a premium-oriented electric sedan with a strong emphasis on comfort, charging performance and technology.

The model is currently being offered for pre-sale in China, with three trim levels available. Customers placing pre-sale orders before August 21 can also receive a dedicated package of launch benefits.

The ELECTRA L7 BEV gives Buick another important entry into China’s competitive electric vehicle market, combining a long-range EV platform with the brand’s traditional emphasis on refinement and passenger comfort.
