
Toyota’s compact electric SUV lineup is expanding with the return of the 2027 Toyota C-HR EV, a stylish battery-electric model combining sporty performance, everyday practicality, and advanced technology.
Entering its second model year in fully electric form, the C-HR EV continues Toyota’s multi-pathway electrification strategy alongside hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
With standard electronic all-wheel drive, 338 horsepower, and a manufacturer-estimated 0-60 mph time of 4.9 seconds, the 2027 C-HR EV brings a performance-focused character to the compact electric SUV segment. The model is expected to arrive at Toyota dealerships in September with pricing starting at $37,080 for the SE grade.
Sporty Design Meets Everyday Practicality
Built on Toyota’s dedicated e-TNGA battery electric vehicle platform, the C-HR EV shares its foundations with other Toyota electric models while introducing a more compact and athletic design. Its wide stance, coupe-inspired roofline, and sharp body lines create a distinctive appearance designed to stand out among electric crossovers.
The compact dimensions measure 177.9 inches in length, 73.6 inches in width, and 63.8 inches in height, helping the C-HR deliver easy urban maneuverability while maintaining a comfortable cabin. Despite its sporty profile, the electric SUV offers up to 59.5 cubic feet of rear cargo space when the 60/40 split-folding rear seats are lowered.
Inside, the cabin combines minimalist styling with modern technology. A slim digital driver display, configurable ambient lighting, wireless smartphone chargers, USB-C connectivity, and dual-zone climate control contribute to a premium and practical driving environment. 338 Horsepower and Standard All-Wheel Drive
The 2027 Toyota C-HR EV comes exclusively with an electric all-wheel-drive system using motors mounted on the front and rear eAxles. The setup produces 338 net combined system horsepower, with 198 lb.-ft. of torque from the front motor and 125 lb.-ft. from the rear motor.
Toyota estimates the C-HR EV can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds, making it one of the more performance-oriented models in the brand’s growing electric vehicle lineup.
The low center of gravity from the underfloor battery placement helps improve handling, while suspension tuning, including revised spring and damper settings, is designed to provide a balance between comfort and responsive driving dynamics.
Up to 287 Miles of Driving Range
Power comes from a 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery pack paired with an 11-kW onboard AC charger. Toyota estimates the SE grade with 18-inch wheels can achieve up to 287 miles of range, while the XSE grade with 20-inch wheels is rated at approximately 273 miles.
The C-HR EV features a NACS charging port, allowing access to thousands of public fast-charging stations. Under ideal conditions, Toyota estimates the battery can recharge from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes using DC fast charging.
Additional charging technologies include Plug & Charge capability, battery preconditioning, and support for Level 1 and Level 2 AC charging. The battery preconditioning system can automatically prepare the battery for faster charging when navigating to a compatible fast-charging station.
Advanced Technology and Safety Features
The 2027 C-HR EV is equipped with modern convenience features designed for daily electric driving. Steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters allow drivers to adjust regenerative braking levels, with four selectable settings available.
Toyota also continues to support EV ownership with comprehensive warranty coverage. The electric vehicle components, including the traction battery, are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles, while ToyotaCare provides scheduled maintenance coverage and roadside assistance benefits.
