Kia is broadening the appeal of its all-electric Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) range with the introduction of the new PV5 Passenger 7-seat variant, alongside a premium Elite trim level and a series of model year 2027 updates aimed at improving comfort, practicality, and usability.
The latest additions strengthen the Kia PV5’s position as a versatile electric people mover designed for both private and commercial applications, including family transportation, airport transfers, ride-hailing services, shuttle operations, and shared mobility fleets.
New Kia PV5 Passenger 7-Seat Adds Greater Flexibility
Building on the existing five-seat model, the new Kia PV5 Passenger 7-seat introduces a three-row cabin with a practical 2-2-3 seating layout. The configuration is designed to maximize passenger comfort while maintaining useful cargo capacity.
The spacious interior benefits from Kia’s dedicated E-GMP.S platform, which enables a flat-floor design and class-leading passenger accommodation. Occupants enjoy up to 1,041 mm of legroom, 1,076 mm of headroom, and 1,732 mm of shoulder room.
Access to the rear seats is simplified by dual sliding doors and a low 399 mm step-in height, making entry and exit easier for passengers of all ages. Behind the third row, the PV5 offers 318 liters of cargo space, expanding to 785 liters when the rear seats are folded.
The platform has also been engineered for durability, modularity, and advanced connectivity, making it well suited to fleet operators and mobility service providers.
Over 390 km of Driving Range
In the UK, the new PV5 Passenger 7-seat will be offered exclusively with Kia’s Long Range 71.2 kWh battery pack. The company estimates a WLTP driving range of more than 390 km, pending final homologation.
Fast-charging capability is another key advantage. Using DC charging at up to 150 kW, the battery can be replenished from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes, minimizing downtime for both private owners and commercial operators.
The PV5’s front-mounted charging port further improves convenience by allowing charging without restricting access to the vehicle’s cargo area.
Customers will also benefit from access to Kia Charge, which provides connectivity to more than 74,000 charging points across the UK and over one million charging points throughout 27 European countries.
Selected Plus and Elite grades additionally feature Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing the vehicle to power external devices through internal or external outlets.
MY27 Updates Improve Comfort and Convenience
The launch of the new 7-seat version coincides with Kia’s model year 2027 enhancements across the PV5 Passenger range.
Among the most notable upgrades is a height-adjustable driver’s armrest, designed to improve comfort during long hours behind the wheel, particularly for urban and professional drivers.
Additional improvements include the introduction of Walk Away Lock technology for enhanced convenience and security. Kia has also adopted a flat antenna design that helps keep overall vehicle height below 1.9 meters, improving access to parking structures and other height-restricted locations.
These updates further reinforce the PV5’s adaptability for a broad range of passenger and commercial use cases.
Technology-Focused Interior
The Kia PV5 Passenger combines a futuristic exterior design with a software-defined architecture that supports over-the-air software updates and seamless integration with fleet management systems.
Inside, drivers are greeted by a digital cockpit featuring a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 7.5-inch digital instrument cluster. The system supports access to an expanding ecosystem of third-party applications through Kia’s infotainment platform and the Pleos app marketplace.
Ride comfort has also been a priority, with improved sound insulation, reduced vibration levels, and chassis tuning focused on passenger refinement. A tight 5.5-meter turning radius enhances maneuverability in urban environments, while optimized steering and gear ratios help reduce driver fatigue.
Kia also equips the PV5 Passenger with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems, helping improve safety for both drivers and passengers.
New Elite Trim Joins the Range
The PV5 Passenger lineup now expands from two trim levels to three. Alongside the existing Essential and Plus grades, Kia is introducing a new flagship Elite variant that adds additional premium equipment and technology.
The broader trim selection gives customers more flexibility when configuring the vehicle for personal transportation, business operations, or fleet deployment.
UK Pricing
The Kia PV5 Passenger range now starts at £33,195 on-the-road for the five-seat Essential variant equipped with the Standard Range 51.5 kWh battery.
All PV5 Passenger 5-seat versions currently qualify for the UK Government’s Band 2 Electric Car Grant, reducing the on-the-road price by £1,500. Kia says details regarding grant eligibility for the new seven-seat model will be announced at a later date.
With the addition of a spacious seven-seat configuration, enhanced technology, and a new premium trim level, the Kia PV5 continues to evolve into one of the most versatile electric passenger vehicles aimed at both family and commercial users.
