Toyota bZ4X Touring Arrives in UK: Specs, Range and Details

Toyota has expanded its electric SUV line-up with the new Toyota bZ4X Touring, a larger, more versatile sibling to the standard bZ4X. Designed with family practicality and outdoor capability in mind, the Touring brings more space, stronger performance, and enhanced off-road credentials—while maintaining competitive efficiency and range.

Available to order in the UK from June, with deliveries starting in July, the bZ4X Touring is priced from £45,995.

Bigger, More Practical—and Built for Adventure

The bZ4X Touring takes Toyota’s electric SUV formula and stretches it where it matters most: space and usability.

Compared to the standard model, it’s longer by 140 mm, with that extra length dedicated entirely to cargo capacity. The result is a class-competitive 669-litre boot, expanding to 1,718 litres with the rear seats folded. That’s nearly 50% more luggage space—ideal for family trips, sports gear, or camping equipment.

Toyota has also improved usability with a wider and taller boot opening, power-operated tailgate, flexible 60:40 split-fold rear seats and roof rails supporting up to 80 kg.

For those needing towing capability, the Touring delivers up to 1,500 kg (AWD) or 750 kg (FWD), making it one of the more versatile electric SUVs in its class.

Rugged Design with a Purpose

The Touring isn’t just bigger—it looks tougher too. Toyota has given it a more rugged identity with redesigned bumpers, skid plates, and black wheel arch trims. Matte black alloy wheels (18- or 20-inch) and new paint options, including Brilliant Bronze, reinforce its outdoor-ready appeal.

Up front, the signature Toyota “hammerhead” design remains, while the rear features a full-width light bar for a modern, clean finish.

Inside, the cabin mirrors the standard bZ4X but adds subtle enhancements. A panoramic roof (on higher trims) boosts the sense of space, while a new “City Moss” interior theme reflects the vehicle’s adventure-focused character.

Powertrain, Performance and Range

The bZ4X Touring is offered with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive setups, each powered by a 74.7 kWh battery.

FWD model:

– 165 kW (224 hp)
– Up to 591 km (367 miles) WLTP range
– 0–100 km/h in 7.3 seconds

AWD model:

– 280 kW (380 hp) combined output
– 0–100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds
– Up to 528 km (328 miles) range

The AWD version is particularly notable—it’s the most powerful non-GR Toyota to date and features enhanced traction systems like X-MODE and Grip Control for challenging terrain, including mud, snow, and steep inclines.

Charging and Efficiency

Efficiency remains a strong point. The FWD version consumes as little as 14.0 kWh/100 km (WLTP), making it one of the more efficient electric SUVs in its segment.

Charging performance is equally competitive:

– 10–80% DC fast charging in ~28 minutes (150 kW)
– Around 30 minutes even at -20°C with battery pre-conditioning
– AC charging: 11 kW (approx. 7 hours), 22 kW (approx. 3.5 hours, Excel grade)

Toyota’s battery thermal management system ensures consistent performance across different climates, while EV routing helps drivers plan optimal charging stops in real time.

Trim Levels and Equipment

The UK line-up includes two trims:

Design (from £45,995)

– Front-wheel drive
– 14.3-inch Toyota Smart Connect+ system
– Wireless charging
– Heated front seats
– Panoramic View Monitor
– Power tailgate

Excel (from £51,695)

– All-wheel drive
– 22 kW onboard charger
– 20-inch alloys
– Panoramic roof
– Synthetic leather upholstery
– Ventilated front and heated rear seats
– Digital rear-view mirror
– Advanced driver assistance features
– Optional JBL premium audio

Safety and Technology

The bZ4X Touring comes equipped with Toyota’s latest T-Mate and Safety Sense systems, offering a comprehensive suite of driver assistance features.

These include: Pre-Collision System with steering assist, Lane Trace Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Assist, Safe Exit Assist and Advanced Parking Assist.

Over-the-air updates ensure the system remains current without dealership visits.

Battery Durability and Warranty

Toyota backs the bZ4X Touring with its Battery Care Program, guaranteeing at least 70% battery capacity for up to 10 years or 1 million kilometres, subject to annual health checks. This reinforces Toyota’s reputation for long-term reliability in the EV space.

Final Thoughts

The Toyota bZ4X Touring builds on the strengths of the standard model with meaningful upgrades in space, performance, and usability. It’s not just another electric SUV—it’s a practical, adventure-ready EV with genuine off-road capability and strong real-world range.

For UK buyers looking for a family-friendly electric SUV that can handle more than just city driving, the Touring stands out as a compelling new option in 2026.
