Ford UK offers free home charging wall box for new EV buyers

As car owners across the UK weigh-up whether to buy an electric vehicle, Ford is launching unique-to-market Ford Power Promise for its new electric vehicle buyers, making it easy for drivers to make the switch.

Results from a recent Ford survey of 5,000 drivers across Europe found that 25 percent of customers feel more uncertainty and complexity when buying an electric car; one out of every 8 people find it too difficult to arrange charging at home; one third of respondents believe that electric vehicles take too long to charge; and over 30 percent of people are concerned about overall battery life.

Ford Power Promise gives drivers peace of mind when switching to new electric vehicle technology, making it easy to charge at home, and save time and money.

Free home electric car charger and free standard installation to save time and money going electric, so drivers can fill up at home and start each day ready to go:

– Up to 10,000 miles home energy bonus to get your new car moving for free
– Eight-year, 100,000 mile high voltage component and battery warranty for peace of mind
– Free-of-charge five-year service plan to reassure you on low maintenance costs
– Free-of-charge five-year towing assistance that won’t leave you stranded on the side of the road
– Access to more than 33,000 UK public charging points via Ford’s BlueOval Charge Network
– FordPass app eliminates stress and storage of multiple apps for public charging payments

Lisa Brankin, Chair and Managing Director, Ford UK, said: “Switching into an electric vehicle for the first time can be a daunting prospect for some drivers, so Ford have decided to simplify and de- stress the entire ownership experience by launching a one-of-a-kind promise to new electric car buyers. This commitment from Ford aims to entice new buyers into the exciting world of electric vehicles and stimulate additional demand for our freshest-ever lineup of electric passenger cars.”

Building on the company’s existing partnership with Octopus Energy – the UK’s largest energy supplier – Ford Power Promise customers will also benefit from ‘Intelligent Octopus Go’ smart energy tariff, which charges your electric vehicle for just 7p/kWh overnight, saving up to 70 percent of your energy costs compared to price cap rates. This energy tariff can automatically optimise charging to make use of cheaper off-peak electricity, and lower energy prices when the wind is blowing and the sun is shining. This means fully charging the new Puma Gen-E can cost as little as £3.23.

Ford’s offer is applicable across all of Ford’s electric passenger vehicle line up including the all- electric Explorer, all-electric Capri, all-electric Puma Gen-E, all-electric Mustang Mach-E, all- electric E-Tourneo Custom and all-electric E-Tourneo Courier. A £500 cash alternative to the offer of free home charger, standard installation and Home Energy Bonus is also available.
