Fully electric Volvo ES90 revealed with 434 miles of range

Is it a sleek saloon, a sporty fastback, or a spacious SUV? The all-new, fully electric Volvo ES90 defies easy categorization, carving out its own niche by seamlessly blending the best of these popular segments. This innovative approach eliminates traditional compromises, offering a truly versatile and luxurious driving experience.

The ES90 boasts the refined elegance of a saloon, the dynamic silhouette of a fastback, and the practical spaciousness and elevated ride height of an SUV.

Designed for modern lifestyles, it effortlessly balances professional demands with personal adventures, making it perfect for families and individuals seeking a premium, adaptable vehicle.

Next-Gen Power and Unprecedented Efficiency

At the heart of the ES90 lies Volvo’s next-generation core computing platform, delivering an eightfold increase in processing power over previous models. This enables advanced features and seamless over-the-air updates, ensuring the ES90 evolves with the latest technology. Notably, the ES90 is the first Volvo to feature 800V technology, enabling faster charging and a longer range than any previous electric Volvo.

“The Volvo ES90 combines our most advanced technologies with Scandinavian design and superior comfort, creating a true premium Volvo car designed to elevate your quality of life,” says Jim Rowan, Volvo Cars CEO.

A Design That Turns Heads

The ES90’s exterior is both confident and distinctive. A slightly raised ride height provides a commanding view of the road, while the flowing roofline balances elegance with interior space and aerodynamic efficiency. The iconic Thor’s Hammer headlights and unique C-shaped LED rear lamps create a recognizable and modern Volvo identity.

Customers can personalize their ES90 with seven exterior colors and four wheel options, ranging from 20 to 22 inches. The large tailgate and spacious boot, offering up to 733 liters of cargo space with the rear seats folded, ensure practicality for everyday needs and weekend getaways. A 22-liter frunk adds further storage for charging cables.

A Sanctuary of Comfort and Technology

Inside, the ES90 prioritizes premium comfort and Scandinavian design. The long wheelbase provides exceptional legroom for rear passengers, while ambient lighting and customizable upholstery create a personalized atmosphere. A panoramic roof with optional electrochromic glass enhances the sense of space and light.

The four-zone climate system with an advanced air purifier ensures a healthy and comfortable cabin environment, filtering out allergens and pollutants. Superior sound insulation creates one of Volvo’s quietest cabins ever, allowing occupants to fully appreciate the premium sound systems, including the top-of-the-line Bowers & Wilkins system with Dolby Atmos and a unique Abbey Road Studios mode.

The ES90 features Volvo’s next-generation infotainment system with Google built-in, including Google Maps, Google Assistant, and access to apps on Google Play. The 14.5-inch center screen and 9-inch driver display provide intuitive control and essential information. A 360-degree camera with a 3D view simplifies parking maneuvers.

Safety as a Core Principle

As expected from Volvo, safety is paramount. The ES90 is built to meet Volvo’s rigorous safety standards, incorporating advanced driver-assistance systems powered by lidar, radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors.

A driver-understanding system monitors driver attention, and a door-opening alert and full-cabin occupant sensing enhance safety for passengers and pedestrians.

Performance and Range

The ES90’s 800V technology enables rapid charging, adding 300 kilometers (186 miles) of range in just 10 minutes at 350kW fast charging stations. The ES90 offers a WLTP range of up to 700 kilometers (435 miles), translating to 740km (460 miles) under the CLTC driving cycle in China for the all-wheel-drive variants.

Its aerodynamic design, with a drag coefficient of 0.25, contributes to its efficiency and extended range.

Availability

The Volvo ES90 is now available for order in select European markets, with wider availability planned for later this year and into 2026. This groundbreaking electric vehicle marks a significant step forward in Volvo’s journey towards full electrification, offering a unique blend of style, technology, and sustainability.
