Sharp Unveils ‘LDK+’ EV at SHARP Tech-Day’24

Sharp, renowned for its electronics expertise, has officially entered the electric vehicle market with its first concept car, the LDK+. Unveiled at the Sharp technology exhibition in Tokyo, the LDK+ showcases the company’s vision of transforming EVs into not just efficient vehicles but also entertainment hubs.

The LDK+ boasts a futuristic design, featuring a notably wide rear section that resembles a living room. Equipped with a large LCD screen, the concept car exemplifies Sharp’s aim to merge home entertainment with mobility. Developed in collaboration with Foxconn and Folofly Corporation, the LDK+ is based on an EV open platform.

Unlike traditional vehicles, the LDK+ combines a vehicle with a living space. With rotating rear seats and a 65-inch display, it’s designed to be an “extended living room” for entertainment or remote work.

Sharp’s AIoT technology integrates home appliances with the vehicle, enabling automatic adjustments for lighting, air conditioning, and communication with family members. Essentially, the LDK+ becomes a small, usable room in your garage.

“The LDK+ focuses on the time the vehicle is stationary, viewing the interior as an extended living room. Our AI technology, AIoT integration, and sensing technology will offer a comfortable and sustainable lifestyle that connects EVs with living spaces, people, and energy,” said Sharp in a press release.

Equipped with a storage battery and solar panels, the LDK+ can be connected to the home for optimal energy management. In the event of a power outage, the stored electricity can be used within the home.
