Tesla delivered record 308,500 EVs in Q4, with 2021 deliveries up 87%

Tesla on Sunday announced it delivered 308,600 electric vehicles in the Q4 of 2021, beating its previous single-quarter record. The electric vehicle automaker produced 305,840 all-electric vehicles during the same period.

The vast majority of Tesla deliveries in Q4, 296,850 units, were its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, its more affordable mid-range offerings. Tesla reported 11,750 deliveries of its Model S and Model X vehicles.

It was the sixth consecutive quarter that Tesla posted record deliveries.

On an annual basis, Tesla reported that it delivered 936,000 cars in 2021, up 87 percent over 2020’s deliveries of just under half a million vehicles, despite the computer chip shortage that has disrupted auto production around the world.

Tesla noted that its delivery count should be viewed as slightly conservative since it only counts a car as delivered if it is transferred to the customer and all of the paperwork is accurate. Final numbers could vary by up to 0.5% or more.
