Outlander PHEV was best-selling plug-in model in Norway in 2016

The Norwegian plug-in vehicle market continues to grow, having registered 3.596 units in December, up 28% Year-on-Year, pulling the total 2016 numbers to 44.886 units and placing the plug-in market share at 29%.

The Tesla Model X was the best-selling plug-in model (and #3 in the global ranking) in December, with 425 units, followed by the all-electric BMW i3 with 412 units (#4 in the general ranking) and the third placed (#6 in the global ranking) Audi A3 e-Tron, with 369, its best result in 2016.

A mention to the Hyundai Ioniq Electric, registering a record 293 units, leaving promising signs for 2017.

In 2016, for the first time ever, a plug-in hybrid was the best-selling model, with the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV ending the year with 5.136 units, with a comfortable 431 unit lead over the second placed and best-selling BEV, the VW e-Golf (4.705 registrations), while its plug-in hybrid relative, the VW Golf GTE, took the third spot, with 4.337 units.

In the LCV (N1) category, registrations grew 7% in 2016 to 647 units and 1.8% share, with the Nissan e-NV200 (319 registrations) ending ahead of the Peugeot Partner EV (165) and Renault Kangoo ZE (131).

Looking at Fuel Cell passenger cars, the market grew six units regarding 2015, ending the year with 23. The Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell winning the best-seller title, with 13 units, down four units over 2015, but still enough to outsell the 10 units of the Toyota Mirai.
