All major automakers are posting December sales numbers for plug-in electric vehicles. Sales of plug-in electric vehicles in 2013 nearly doubled over 2012 to more than 96,000.
The Chevrolet Volt finished 2013 as the best-selling plug-in electric vehicle with 23,094 units delivered compared to the Nissan LEAF’s 22,610 units.

Previously in November, Toyota Prius Plug-in sold 1,100 units, while in October, the Prius Plug-in was the best-selling plug-in electric vehicle, narrowly outselling its nearest rivals. December’s result means that Toyota sold 12,088 Toyota Prius Plug-ins in 2013. |
 | Ford C-Max Energi Ford C-MAX Energi sold 837 units in December. The C-MAX Energi had its best month for the year in October with 1,092 deliveries. The C-MAX Energi finished the year with 7,154 deliveries. |
 | Ford Fusion Energi Ford Fusion Energi achieved 791 sales in December. Its highest monthly total ever was in October with 1,087 deliveries. The Ford Fusion Energi finished the year with 6,089 deliveries. |
 | Cadillac ELR GM managed to sell 6 Cadillac ELR range-extended luxury coupes. Last month, GM began shipping Cadillac ELRs to dealerships. The 2014 Cadillac ELR has a starting price of $75,995, including a $995 destination charge but excluding tax, title, license and dealer fees. |
 | Porsche Panamera S-E Hybrid Porsche sold 47 Panamera S E-Hybrids last month. Previously in November, the German carmaker sold 4 units. Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid is available at Porsche dealers nationwide, with a starting price of $99,000. |
 | Tesla Model S – No Sales Data to Report Tesla Motors does not report monthly sales like every other automaker. We’ll find out how many Model S sedans Tesla sold when it reports its year-end financial results next month. |
 | Ford Focus Electric Although Ford announced that the new 2014 Focus Electric will be $4,000 cheaper than the outgoing 2013 model, deliveries of the Ford Focus Electric were 158 in December. The Ford Focus Electric finished the year with 1,738 deliveries. |
 | Mitsubishi i Sales of the Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric car in December were 11, which brings the total calendar year number to 1,029 units. 2014 Mitsubishi i-MiEV will start at $22,995 including CHAdeMO DC quick charge port when it goes on sale next spring, representing a $6,130 reduction from the starting price of the 2012 model that preceded it. |
 | Honda Fit EV Honda sold 51 Fit EVs in December, bringing the year’s total to 569. Honda announced in May that it has cut the monthly lease payment on its Fit EV from $389 to $259 and also is cutting the payment for those who already had leased the vehicle. |

 | Honda Accord Plug-in The 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid logged 38 units last month. The 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid finished the year with 526 deliveries. |
 | Smart Fortwo Electric Drive The smart fortwo electric drive went on sale on May-15 with starting price of $25,000, while the cabriolet is priced at $28,000 before federal credits. Last month, smart fortwo ED sold 167 units, which brings the total amount sold in 2013 to 923 units. |
 | Fiat 500e – No Sales Data to Report Like Tesla, FIAT Brand North America does not report monthly sales. The 2013 Fiat 500e is priced at $32,500, which includes a $700 destination charge. However, eligible California residents may be able to purchase the 2013 Fiat 500e for as low as $20,500, after federal credits. |
 | Chevrolet Spark EV GM sold 76 Chevrolet Spark EVs last month. Chevrolet Spark EV finished the year with 539 deliveries.
