Polestar is expanding its public charging service across Europe with two new subscription plans designed to make fast charging more affordable. Through Polestar Charge, drivers can now access more than 1.25 million public charging points across Europe, including the Tesla Supercharger network, while new Plus and Pro subscriptions offer discounts at selected fast-charging networks.
The expanded service gives Polestar drivers more flexibility to manage charging costs, whether they occasionally use public fast chargers or regularly rely on them for longer journeys.
Polestar Charge now offers three options: a standard plan without a subscription fee and two paid tiers, Plus and Pro. Both subscriptions provide discounts on regular fast-charging prices in exchange for a monthly payment.
The new Polestar Charge Plus plan costs £6.99 per month in the UK and targets drivers who use public fast charging occasionally. Subscribers receive a 15% discount at five selected fast-charging networks in each market.
For drivers who frequently charge away from home, the Polestar Charge Pro plan costs £12.99 per month and provides a 30% discount at seven selected fast-charging networks, including IONITY.
The two plans are designed to accommodate different driving habits, allowing customers to choose between a lower monthly fee with smaller discounts or a higher subscription cost with greater savings on eligible charging sessions.
Alongside the new subscription options, Polestar has expanded the number of charging points eligible for discounted rates in the UK.
Polestar Charge Plus now covers more than 11,000 discounted charging points, representing a 35% increase compared with the previous offer. Pro subscribers can access discounts at more than 12,000 charging points, a 48% increase.
These expanded networks give drivers more opportunities to reduce public charging costs, particularly on longer journeys where rapid charging can be an important part of an electric vehicle’s running expenses.
Actual savings will depend on charging frequency, energy consumption, the standard charging prices at participating stations and the networks covered by each subscription.
Polestar Charge now provides access to more than 1.25 million public charging points throughout Europe, including the Tesla Supercharger network.
Access to this wider charging network is available to both subscribers and non-subscribers, while the additional discounts are reserved for customers on the eligible paid plans.
Polestar Charge is designed to simplify public charging by bringing access to multiple charging providers together under one account. Drivers can use the Polestar Charge app or charging card to access compatible stations without needing to manage a separate account for every network.
The service also supports Plug & Charge in compatible vehicles and allows drivers to filter for charging points included in the Polestar Charge network when planning routes through Google Maps.
These features are intended to make charging stops easier to plan and reduce the inconvenience of using different public charging providers across Europe.
The service is included with the purchase of a Polestar vehicle, including vehicles acquired through the company’s pre-owned programme.
The expansion comes as Polestar Charge reports record usage during the summer, with Polestar drivers completing 161,000 charging sessions.
According to the company, subscribers can begin seeing savings after their first full charge, although the amount saved depends on the applicable discount and the price of the charging session.
Olivier Loedel, Head of Product Software Management at Polestar, said the expanded offer is intended to make public fast charging more affordable through subscription options tailored to different driving habits.
The wider charging network and new pricing tiers reflect Polestar’s effort to make public charging more convenient as electric vehicle adoption continues to grow.
Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller highlighted the importance of convenient public charging as electric vehicles gain a larger share of new car sales in Europe.
The company cited electric vehicles accounting for more than 20% of new car sales in the European Union during the first half of 2026.
By combining access to more than 1.25 million charging points with optional discounts at selected fast-charging networks, Polestar Charge aims to address two important considerations for EV drivers: charging convenience and running costs.
For drivers who primarily charge at home, the standard Polestar Charge option may be sufficient for occasional public charging. Those who regularly use eligible rapid chargers may benefit from comparing the monthly subscription fees against their expected charging expenses before choosing Plus or Pro.
The expanded service gives Polestar owners more options for charging across Europe, while the new subscriptions provide an additional way to manage the cost of longer journeys and frequent public fast charging.
