Stellantis is expanding its range of remanufactured parts for electric and hybrid vehicles as it pushes further into the circular economy.
Through its SUSTAINera business unit, the automaker is extending its global aftermarket portfolio to cover more electrified vehicles, including high-voltage batteries for most of its battery-electric and plug-in hybrid models.
The expanded range is designed to give EV and hybrid owners access to more affordable replacement components while reducing the environmental impact associated with manufacturing new parts.
SUSTAINera’s expanded portfolio includes three key components aimed at supporting Stellantis’ growing electrified vehicle fleet:
– High-Voltage Batteries (HVB): Remanufactured high-voltage batteries are now available for most Stellantis battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, expanding access to lower-impact replacement batteries through the official aftermarket.
– Electrified Dual-Clutch Transmissions (eDCT): The remanufactured transmission range now covers electrified dual-clutch systems used in mild hybrid electric vehicles. Each unit is tested and validated to meet OEM-level performance and reliability requirements.
– Electrically Driven Compressors (EDC): SUSTAINera is extending its remanufactured electric compressor offering to battery-electric vehicles. The process includes replacing wear components, dimensional inspections, leak testing and performance testing in accordance with applicable regulations.
The expansion is particularly significant for high-voltage batteries, which are among the most expensive components in an electric vehicle. Making remanufactured batteries available through the aftermarket could provide another option for owners facing costly battery repairs or replacement.
The expanded program is part of SUSTAINera’s broader 4R circular economy strategy: Remanufacture, Repair, Reuse and Recycle.
Rather than treating worn components as waste, the program focuses on recovering usable parts and restoring them for another service life. Stellantis says its remanufactured components are restored to OEM specifications and offer the same performance characteristics and warranty conditions as genuine MOPAR parts.
According to Stellantis, remanufacturing can save up to 80% of raw materials and result in up to 40% lower CO2 emissions compared with producing equivalent new parts.
That approach becomes increasingly important as electric vehicle adoption grows. EVs eliminate tailpipe emissions during operation, but manufacturing batteries and other components still requires substantial quantities of raw materials and energy. Extending the useful life of existing components can reduce some of that environmental burden.
SUSTAINera has already demonstrated the potential for used EV batteries beyond automotive applications. Remanufactured batteries have previously been supplied for stationary energy storage projects, including an installation at Rome Airport.
SUSTAINera Adds Remanufactured NOx Sensor
The expansion is not limited to electric and hybrid components.
SUSTAINera is also introducing a remanufactured NOx sensor globally, describing it as a first-to-market product in the remanufacturing sector.
The sensor measures nitrogen oxides and oxygen in a vehicle’s exhaust gases and plays an important role in emissions control and engine performance. The remanufactured unit uses a new probe and is calibrated according to OEM specifications and procedures.
The NOx sensor was developed through SUSTAINera’s partnership with Valeo. The collaboration follows the introduction of what Stellantis describes as the industry’s first remanufactured LED headlamp in 2025.
Recycled Oil Also Joins the Circular Economy Push
SUSTAINera’s latest developments also extend into recycled automotive fluids.
The company will showcase the co-branded TotalEnergies Quartz EV3R MOPAR SUSTAINera recycled oil, which is produced using 100% regenerated base oil.
The product forms part of SUSTAINera’s wider Recycle portfolio and reinforces Stellantis’ effort to apply circular-economy principles across more areas of the automotive aftermarket.
EV Remanufacturing to Be Showcased at Automechanika Frankfurt
Stellantis will showcase the expanded SUSTAINera portfolio at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, taking place September 8–12 at Messe Frankfurt, Germany.
The company’s exhibition will use a live workshop-style environment to demonstrate how remanufacturing, repair, reuse and recycling can be applied across the automotive aftermarket.
For EV owners, the expansion of remanufactured high-voltage batteries is arguably the most notable development. As more electric vehicles move beyond their original warranties, access to professionally remanufactured batteries and other major components could become increasingly important for controlling repair costs and keeping older EVs on the road.
The move also highlights a broader shift in the automotive industry: the EV transition is not only about selling new electric vehicles, but also about finding ways to maintain, repair, reuse and recycle the growing number of EVs already on the road.
