
Suzuki has revealed the first official images and details of the e Sky, a compact electric hatchback designed to make the transition from gasoline-powered cars to EVs easier. The production model stays remarkably close to the Vision e-Sky concept shown in 2025 and will launch in Japan in autumn 2026 before expanding to Europe and the UK in 2027.
The e Sky becomes Suzuki’s third production electric vehicle, following the e Vitara and e Every. More importantly, it marks Suzuki’s first entry into Japan’s growing market for electric kei passenger cars.
With a compact footprint, a 26 kWh battery and a targeted range of up to 310 km (193 miles), the Suzuki e Sky is aimed primarily at urban drivers who want an affordable and efficient EV without the size and cost of a conventional electric SUV.
Suzuki e Sky Design Stays Close to the Concept
The production Suzuki e Sky is clearly related to the Vision e-Sky concept, although several of the show car’s more futuristic details have been toned down for production.
At the front, the electric hatchback features larger LED headlights with tinted backgrounds, while the concept’s illuminated grille has been replaced by a simpler black trim element. A revised Suzuki badge sits on the sculpted nose, and the front bumper features a single cooling intake.
The side profile is more familiar, with smaller wheels and larger exterior mirrors compared with the concept. Conventional door handles also replace the concept’s flush-style units.
Still, Suzuki has retained some of the concept’s distinctive design cues, including the floating-roof appearance and body-colored C-pillar trim.
At the rear, the production model receives larger LED taillights, a visible tailgate handle and body-colored cladding on the rear bumper.
The proportions are dictated by Japan’s kei-car regulations. The e Sky reportedly measures 3,395 mm (133.7 inches) long, 1,475 mm (58.1 inches) wide and 1,625 mm (64.0 inches) tall, with a 2,460-mm (96.9-inch) wheelbase.
A Simple, Practical Interior
The interior is considerably more conventional than the Vision e-Sky concept. Suzuki has replaced the concept’s pale materials, futuristic detailing and extensive ambient lighting with a more production-friendly cabin.
A 10.1-inch infotainment display takes center stage, joined by a digital instrument cluster. Unlike some newer EVs, the e Sky retains a traditional automatic gear selector and dedicated physical controls for the climate system.
Practicality also appears to be a priority. The dashboard includes a storage tray on the passenger side, while heated front seats and a heated steering wheel should make the small EV more comfortable during winter.
Suzuki is also fitting a heat pump alongside an electric air heater to improve cabin heating efficiency in cold weather.
As a kei car, the e Sky has a four-seat interior and a relatively small cargo area. That is unlikely to make it a family-hauling champion, but the compact dimensions should make it well suited to crowded urban streets and tight parking spaces.
Suzuki e Sky Could Deliver 310 km of Range
The most interesting part of the e Sky may be its relatively long range for such a small EV.
The electric hatchback uses Suzuki’s Heartect e architecture and is expected to feature a front-mounted e-Axle combining the electric motor, inverter and gearing. Suzuki has not yet disclosed the final motor output, although kei-car regulations limit output to 47 kW (64 PS/63 hp).
Japanese media reports indicate that the e Sky will use a 26 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery mounted beneath the floor.
Despite its modest battery capacity, Suzuki is targeting up to 310 km (193 miles) of range. If achieved in production testing, that would make the e Sky one of the more range-efficient kei EVs available in Japan.
For comparison, the BYD Racco is reportedly capable of up to 320 km (199 miles), but uses a substantially larger 35.84 kWh battery.
Suzuki says the e Sky’s efficiency comes from a combination of aerodynamic improvements, greater motor efficiency and weight reduction. The vehicle reportedly weighs approximately 1,030 kg (2,271 lbs).
That low weight is particularly important for a small EV, where reducing battery size can help keep both cost and overall vehicle mass under control.
Charging and Vehicle-to-Home Capability
The Suzuki e Sky is designed primarily around everyday charging rather than frequent long-distance trips.
A full charge is expected to take approximately eight hours from a standard household outlet or around 4.5 hours using a 6 kW wallbox.
The EV will also support 50 kW DC fast charging, with Suzuki targeting an 80% charge in approximately 25 minutes.
Another useful feature is Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capability. The e Sky can provide power through an AC 100V/1,500W outlet, allowing owners to use the vehicle as a power source for compatible external equipment.
For an inexpensive city EV, that combination of efficiency, relatively long range and bidirectional power functionality could give the e Sky an advantage beyond simple transportation.
Suzuki e Sky vs. Other Small EVs
The Suzuki e Sky will initially face several small electric cars in Japan, including the Nissan Sakura, Mitsubishi eK X EV, Honda N-One e and BYD Racco.
The European version will enter a somewhat different competitive landscape.
When the e Sky arrives in Europe and the UK in 2027, it is expected to compete with affordable electric models such as the Renault Twingo E-Tech and the next-generation Dacia Spring.
The Suzuki’s compact dimensions could be a major selling point in European cities, although pricing will ultimately determine how competitive it is against these alternatives.
Suzuki e Sky Launch Date
The Suzuki e Sky is scheduled to go on sale in Japan in autumn 2026. European and UK launches are expected to follow in 2027.
Suzuki is positioning the model as an accessible entry point into electric mobility rather than a technology-heavy flagship. Its small battery, low weight, compact dimensions and efficient powertrain reflect that approach.
If Suzuki can combine the e Sky’s targeted 310-km range with an attractive price, the small EV could become an important competitor in the affordable electric-car market.
For buyers who primarily drive in cities, the e Sky demonstrates that an EV does not necessarily need a huge battery or SUV-sized footprint to provide useful everyday range.
