Volkswagen ID. Polo Debuts in the UK with Prices Starting from £23,945

Volkswagen has officially unveiled the all-new ID. Polo, marking a significant expansion of its all-electric lineup with a compact hatchback designed to bring electric mobility to a broader audience.

Available to order in the UK from 30 July, the new electric supermini combines everyday practicality, advanced technology and competitive pricing, with the entry-level production model starting at £23,945.

The ID. Polo is also the first vehicle conceived, developed and launched under the combined leadership of Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer and Head of Design Andreas Mindt, introducing a new design direction for the brand while remaining unmistakably Volkswagen.

Launch Editions Available First

Volkswagen is initially opening order books for two well-equipped launch models:

– ID. Polo Life Launch Edition
– ID. Polo Style Launch Edition

These special editions offer enhanced equipment levels at introductory prices before the standard production range arrives in September.

The Life Launch Edition starts at £25,555, while the more premium Style Launch Edition is priced from £32,995.

Series-production models will officially go on sale on 10 September 2026, offering lower entry prices while retaining a generous list of standard equipment.

Government EV Grant Reduces Purchase Cost

All 52 kWh, 211 PS versions of the ID. Polo qualify for the UK Government’s £1,500 Electric Car Grant, making Volkswagen’s newest EV even more attractive for buyers looking to switch to electric.

Practical Electric Hatchback with Up to 281 Miles of Range

The ID. Polo has been engineered on Volkswagen’s new front-wheel-drive electric platform, allowing engineers to maximise interior space while maintaining compact exterior dimensions.

Despite its supermini footprint, the ID. Polo offers:

– Seating for five occupants
– Up to 441 litres of luggage capacity
– Flat cabin floor for improved passenger comfort
– More cargo space than both the Volkswagen ID.3 and the current Golf

Depending on the chosen battery and drivetrain, the ID. Polo delivers a WLTP driving range of up to 281 miles, making it suitable for both urban commuting and longer journeys.

Fast charging also plays a major role, with 90 kW or 105 kW DC charging fitted as standard. Under ideal conditions, the battery can recharge from 10% to 80% in as little as 24 minutes.

Well Equipped Across the Range

Even standard production models include an impressive list of features.

The ID. Polo Life comes equipped with:

– 12.9-inch infotainment display
– Wireless smartphone charging
– AppConnect smartphone integration
– Rear-view camera
– Parking sensors
– Driving mode selection
– Height-adjustable boot floor

Customers choosing the Style trim gain additional premium features including:

– IQ.LIGHT LED Matrix headlights
– Illuminated front light bar and Volkswagen logos
– ID.Light ambient interior lighting
– 18-inch alloy wheels
– Sports comfort front seats
– Volkswagen’s signature “Play” and “Pause” accelerator and brake pedals

Launch Edition models further enhance the specification with features such as heated seats, heated steering wheel, two-zone climate control, panoramic glass roof, massage seats, Area View camera, Park Assist Pro and Travel Assist, depending on trim level.

Interior Introduces Volkswagen’s New Design Direction

The cabin debuts Volkswagen’s Pure Positive design philosophy, focusing on intuitive controls and improved usability.

Unlike many modern EVs that rely almost entirely on touchscreen controls, the ID. Polo combines physical buttons with a simplified digital interface. Displays are aligned along a single visual axis, while nostalgic software themes allow the digital cockpit and infotainment system to mimic the appearance of the original Volkswagen Golf.

The result is a cabin that feels both modern and familiar.

Premium Technology in a Compact Package

Volkswagen has equipped the ID. Polo with technology typically found in larger and more expensive vehicles.

Available options include:

– Electronically adjustable massage seats
– Harman Kardon premium sound system (Style)
– Connected Travel Assist
– Intelligent assisted driving using online traffic data
– Automatic traffic-light recognition within system limits

The chassis has also been developed specifically for the new model, aiming to deliver a balanced blend of ride comfort and responsive handling. A redesigned brake system improves pedal feel while maximising regenerative braking efficiency.

A New Benchmark for Affordable Electric Mobility

With competitive pricing, generous standard equipment, fast charging capability and a driving range of up to 281 miles, the Volkswagen ID. Polo enters one of the fastest-growing EV segments with strong credentials. Its spacious interior, practical packaging and blend of familiar Volkswagen design with modern technology position it as a compelling option for buyers looking to move into electric driving without stepping up to a larger vehicle.

The first customer orders for the launch editions open on 30 July, while the full production range joins the lineup from 10 September 2026.
