Renault Trucks E-Tech T Electric Truck Now Deliver Up to 660 km Range

Renault Trucks has significantly expanded the capabilities of its all-electric heavy-duty truck lineup, with the latest Renault Trucks E-Tech T models now offering a driving range of up to 660 km (410 miles) on a single charge. The improved range enables the trucks to handle the majority of regional and long-haul freight operations across Europe.

The announcement is backed by real-world operating data collected from 70,000 connected Renault Trucks tractors over the past two years. According to the company, 80% of daily transport missions can now be completed using the new electric tractor range without additional charging. When drivers take advantage of a 45-minute mandatory rest break with a 350 kW CCS fast charger, that figure increases to 90%.

“Range has long been perceived as the main obstacle to the electrification of long-haul road transport. Operational data now shows that electric trucks are fully capable of meeting real-world transport requirements,” said Emmanuel Duperray, Senior Vice President of Electromobility at Renault Trucks.

Real-World Data Drives Longer Range

The increased driving range is the result of improvements to Renault Trucks’ electric driveline efficiency and the introduction of a new generation of high-energy-density NCA (nickel, cobalt, aluminum) lithium-ion batteries.

Engineers have also expanded the batteries’ usable operating window, allowing up to 95% of total battery capacity to be utilized. This increases the energy available for propulsion and boosts maximum range to 660 km.

The upgrades are based on operational experience gathered from more than 3,500 Renault Trucks electric vehicles, which have collectively logged over 130 million kilometers in real-world service.

Three Renault Trucks E-Tech T Models

The Renault Trucks E-Tech T lineup now includes three variants designed for different transport applications:

– Renault Trucks E-Tech T 780 – Offers up to 660 km of range and payloads of up to 27 tonnes. Its 6×2 configuration delivers long-range capability while maintaining the maneuverability of a traditional 4×2 tractor.
– Renault Trucks E-Tech T 585 – Provides up to 500 km of range with payloads reaching 28 tonnes.
– Renault Trucks E-Tech T 540 – Designed primarily for regional distribution, delivering up to 450 km of range and payloads of up to 25 tonnes.

Fast Charging Supports Daily Operations

Renault Trucks says the E-Tech T models can recover up to 250 km of driving range during the driver’s mandatory 45-minute break using commercially available 350 kW CCS fast chargers.

This charging strategy allows operators to extend the truck’s daily operating range without disrupting existing work schedules, making electric trucks increasingly practical for long-distance freight transport.

To further reduce ownership costs, the batteries in the E-Tech T 780, 585, and 540 models are covered by a standard warranty of up to six years or 720,000 km. Customers can extend coverage to 10 years through Renault Trucks’ optional Serenity Pack.

Focus Shifts Beyond Vehicle Technology

With vehicle performance continuing to improve, Renault Trucks believes the next phase of commercial vehicle electrification depends on expanding public charging infrastructure, supportive regulations, and helping fleet operators transition to electric operations.

According to the company, the latest E-Tech T range demonstrates that battery-electric trucks are now capable of covering a growing share of long-haul freight routes while delivering the performance and driving experience required by commercial transport operators.
