Nissan Launches Service Activated Warranty for LEAF, ARIYA and New MICRA EVs

Nissan has introduced a new Service Activated Warranty programme for eligible battery-electric vehicles in the UK, giving owners the opportunity to extend warranty coverage for up to six years or 100,000 miles.

The programme became available on 1 July and applies to the All-New MICRA, including vehicles sold since launch, the All-New LEAF, which arrives in showrooms this summer, and the 2026 model year ARIYA. Nissan has also confirmed that future all-electric passenger models will be eligible for the scheme.

The announcement strengthens Nissan’s aftersales offering at a time when the UK’s Electric Car Grant continues to support EV adoption. All qualifying Nissan electric vehicles are eligible for the grant, adding further value for customers considering a switch to an all-electric model.

How the Service Activated Warranty works

Eligible vehicles continue to receive Nissan’s standard manufacturer warranty of three years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Once that coverage expires, owners can activate an additional 12 months of warranty cover each year by completing a qualifying service within the Nissan retailer network and following the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule.

The extension can be renewed annually until the vehicle reaches six years of age or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

This approach allows Nissan owners to maintain continuous warranty protection simply by servicing their vehicle through authorised Nissan dealerships or repairers.

What owners need to do

To keep the extended warranty active, Nissan requires owners to follow the scheduled maintenance programme and ensure that the service carried out before the original warranty expires is completed within the Nissan network. Subsequent scheduled services must also be performed by an authorised Nissan dealer or repairer.

Owners who have previously serviced their vehicle outside the Nissan network may still be able to join the programme, provided the car has a full service history. If the history is incomplete, Nissan may require an additional inspection before approving eligibility.

Importantly, the Service Activated Warranty is separate from Nissan’s existing Lithium-Ion Battery Warranty, which remains in place for up to eight years or 100,000 miles.

Used Nissan EVs are included

The programme is not limited to new vehicles. Pre-owned examples of the All-New MICRA, All-New LEAF and 2026 ARIYA can also qualify for the extended warranty under similar conditions.

Used EVs can receive coverage up to six years or 100,000 miles, as long as servicing is carried out within the Nissan retailer network and each inspection is completed before the existing warranty period expires.

For buyers considering a used Nissan EV, the inclusion of pre-owned vehicles could provide additional reassurance and help support long-term ownership costs.

Nissan highlights EV expertise

Nissan says the new warranty reflects the company’s confidence in its electric vehicle technology and its experience supporting EV customers in the UK. The brand has been selling electric vehicles for more than 15 years, making it one of the longest-established EV manufacturers in the market.

By linking extended warranty coverage to authorised servicing, Nissan is also encouraging owners to use dealership facilities, genuine parts and manufacturer-trained technicians, which the company says helps ensure vehicles are maintained to factory standards.

For buyers of the upcoming All-New LEAF, the refreshed MICRA EV, or the 2026 ARIYA, the Service Activated Warranty adds another layer of protection and could become a key factor when comparing Nissan’s electric vehicles with rival models in the increasingly competitive UK EV market.
