BMW Group Posts Strong EV Growth in Europe and US Despite Lower Global Sales in H1 2026

BMW Group reported mixed results for the first half of 2026, with strong performances in Europe and the United States helping offset weaker demand in China and several Asia-Pacific markets. While global deliveries declined year-over-year, the company’s latest electric vehicle launches and growing demand for its Neue Klasse models provided encouraging momentum heading into the second half of the year.

The automaker delivered approximately 1.15 million vehicles worldwide during the first six months of 2026, representing a 4.2% decrease compared with the same period last year. Despite the overall decline, BMW continued to outperform the broader market in several key regions.

Europe and US Drive Growth

Europe remained one of BMW Group’s strongest markets during the first half of the year, with deliveries increasing 5.4% year-over-year. The United States also delivered solid results, where sales climbed 3.9% as the BMW brand continued to outperform the overall automotive market.

According to Jochen Goller, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands and Sales, the company’s latest electric vehicle strategy is gaining momentum despite ongoing global market challenges.

BMW also confirmed that the Neue Klasse platform continues to generate strong customer interest. The company expects the new BMW iX3 to soon surpass 100,000 customer orders, while the all-new BMW i3 has already attracted strong demand since order books opened ahead of its official market launch.

BMW iX3 Boosts Electric Vehicle Sales

The arrival of the new BMW iX3 significantly strengthened the company’s battery-electric vehicle (BEV) performance during the second quarter.

Between April and June 2026, BMW Group delivered 116,807 fully electric BMW and MINI vehicles, representing 5.2% growth compared with the same period a year earlier.

Europe was the standout region for EV sales, largely because the new BMW iX3 was introduced there first. During the second quarter, BMW delivered 81,445 fully electric vehicles across Europe, an impressive 38.0% increase year-over-year.

The strong performance also helped BMW climb to second place in Germany for fully electric vehicle registrations during the second quarter, highlighting the growing popularity of its latest EV lineup.

BMW Brand Holds Up Well

The BMW brand accounted for approximately one million vehicle deliveries during the first half of 2026, down 6.2% year-over-year.

However, regional performance remained positive in BMW’s largest Western markets.

Sales increased 1.5% in Europe and 4.7% in the United States.

Growth in the US was primarily driven by the popular BMW X family of SUVs. BMW also revealed the all-new BMW X5 in late June, with the company expecting its global launch to provide additional sales momentum later this year.

Meanwhile, BMW M GmbH delivered 99,595 high-performance vehicles, a slight 6.0% decline compared with the first half of 2025.

MINI Continues Its Winning Streak

MINI was one of the BMW Group’s brightest performers during the first half of 2026.

The brand delivered 149,538 vehicles, representing an 11.7% increase year-over-year and marking its sixth consecutive quarter of sales growth.

Fully electric MINI models were the primary driver behind this success, reflecting continued consumer demand for compact electric vehicles in several global markets.

Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorrad

Other BMW Group brands reported more modest results.

Rolls-Royce delivered 2,523 luxury vehicles during the first half of 2026, a 9.8% decline from the previous year.

BMW Motorrad recorded deliveries of 102,847 motorcycles and scooters, down 2.9% year-over-year.

Outlook

Although global deliveries declined during the first half of 2026, BMW Group’s results underline the strength of its position in Europe and the United States. Rising demand for fully electric models, particularly the new BMW iX3, together with growing customer interest in the Neue Klasse family, suggests the company is well positioned for stronger EV growth in the months ahead.

As production ramps up and additional Neue Klasse models reach customers, BMW will look to build on its momentum in key markets while navigating softer demand in China and the Asia-Pacific region.
