Subaru Uncharted And E-Outback Secure Top Five-Star Euro NCAP Safety Rating

Subaru’s expanding electric vehicle lineup has received a major endorsement from Europe’s leading independent vehicle safety authority.

The new Subaru Uncharted and Subaru E-Outback have both earned the maximum five-star overall rating in the latest Euro NCAP safety assessments, demonstrating strong performance across all key evaluation categories.

The achievement highlights Subaru’s continued focus on occupant protection, advanced driver assistance systems, and safety technologies as the brand accelerates its electrification strategy in the UK and Ireland.

Strong Performance Across All Safety Categories

Both the Subaru Uncharted and E-Outback exceeded the required thresholds in Euro NCAP’s four core assessment areas:

– Adult Occupant Protection
– Child Occupant Protection
– Vulnerable Road User Protection
– Safety Assist Technologies

The results underline the vehicles’ ability to provide comprehensive protection for occupants while supporting safer interactions with pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users.

Subaru E-Outback Delivers Excellent Occupant Protection

During Euro NCAP’s frontal offset crash test, the Subaru E-Outback maintained a stable passenger compartment structure. Test data indicated strong protection for the driver and front passenger, particularly in critical areas such as the knees and femurs. Subaru also demonstrated that similar protection levels would be available for occupants of varying sizes and seating positions.

The E-Outback achieved maximum points in the side barrier impact test, providing good protection across all critical body regions. Airbag performance was also rated highly, with test results confirming effective protection for both front-seat occupants.

Rear-end collision assessments showed strong whiplash protection from the front seats and head restraints, while geometric analysis confirmed similar protection for rear-seat passengers.

For child safety, the E-Outback performed strongly in side-impact testing, offering good protection for both six- and ten-year-old child dummies. The front passenger airbag can also be deactivated, allowing the installation of a rearward-facing child seat when required.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems Enhance Safety

The Subaru E-Outback’s suite of driver assistance technologies contributed significantly to its five-star rating.

Euro NCAP highlighted the effectiveness of the vehicle’s Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) system in detecting and responding to other vehicles. The SUV also comes equipped with a driver monitoring system capable of identifying signs of fatigue and distraction.

In addition, the lane support system helps keep the vehicle centered within its lane and can intervene in more critical situations to help prevent accidents.

Subaru Uncharted Matches High Safety Standards

The all-new Subaru Uncharted also delivered impressive results throughout Euro NCAP’s evaluation programme.

Like the E-Outback, the Uncharted maintained a stable passenger compartment during frontal offset testing. Protection for the driver and front passenger was rated highly, with strong performance recorded across key body regions.

The electric SUV earned maximum points in the side barrier impact assessment, demonstrating excellent protection for occupants in side-collision scenarios. Airbag effectiveness and whiplash protection were also praised following comprehensive crash testing.

Child occupant protection proved equally impressive. In frontal impact tests, six-year-old child dummies received good protection across all critical body areas, while protection for ten-year-old occupants ranged from adequate to good. Side-impact testing showed good protection for both age groups.

As with the E-Outback, the front passenger airbag can be switched off to accommodate a rearward-facing child restraint.

Enhanced Protection For Vulnerable Road Users

One of the standout safety features of the Subaru Uncharted is its advanced Autonomous Emergency Braking system. Euro NCAP testing confirmed the system’s ability to detect and respond effectively to pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, and other vehicles.

The technology forms part of Subaru’s broader safety strategy, aimed at reducing collision risks and enhancing protection for all road users.

A Strong Safety Foundation For Subaru’s EV Future

The five-star Euro NCAP ratings for both the Subaru Uncharted and Subaru E-Outback reinforce Subaru’s reputation for safety as the company expands its electric vehicle portfolio.

With robust crash protection, advanced driver assistance technologies, and strong scores across all assessment categories, both electric SUVs provide customers with a high level of confidence and security on the road.

As demand for electric vehicles continues to grow across Europe, these latest results position the Subaru Uncharted and E-Outback among the safest new EVs entering the market.
