Cadillac LYRIQ-V Launches in China as the Brand’s Fastest Electric SUV

Cadillac has officially launched the LYRIQ-V in China, bringing the iconic V-Series performance badge into the electric era.

Priced at RMB 399,900 (approximately $59,000) and limited to just 124 units, the LYRIQ-V becomes the first locally introduced Cadillac V-Series model in China, combining high-performance electric driving with premium luxury and advanced safety technologies.

The launch coincides with Cadillac’s 124th anniversary and the brand’s growing motorsport ambitions, including its upcoming Formula 1 entry. As the first all-electric V-Series SUV, the LYRIQ-V represents a new chapter for Cadillac’s performance lineup.

Performance-Focused Electric Powertrain

At the heart of the Cadillac LYRIQ-V is a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system that utilizes silicon carbide technology for improved efficiency and performance. The setup incorporates advanced engineering solutions, including dual-sided water cooling and segmented magnet technology.

The powertrain produces an impressive 465 kW of peak power and 863 Nm of torque, allowing the luxury electric SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds. That makes the LYRIQ-V the fastest Cadillac model currently available in China.

Cadillac says the vehicle has been engineered to deliver the signature V-Series driving experience while taking full advantage of the instant torque and responsiveness offered by electric propulsion.

Chassis Upgrades Enhance Driving Dynamics

Beyond straight-line speed, the LYRIQ-V receives a range of chassis and suspension upgrades designed to improve handling and driver engagement.

Development included testing and tuning at Cadillac’s renowned Milford Proving Ground. The SUV features front and rear high-rigidity five-link independent suspension systems, V-Series-specific chassis reinforcement, and Continuous Damping Control dampers tuned specifically for this model.

Additional performance hardware includes Brembo six-piston front brakes and lightweight 21-inch flow-formed alloy wheels. Together, these components aim to deliver sharper handling without sacrificing ride comfort for everyday driving.

Drivers can also access dedicated performance settings through a steering wheel-mounted V-Mode button. Exclusive performance displays and customized sound enhancements further elevate the driving experience.

Aggressive Design with Aerodynamic Enhancements

The LYRIQ-V builds on the standard LYRIQ’s sleek design while adding several V-Series-exclusive aerodynamic elements.

Measuring 5,013 mm long, 1,977 mm wide, and 1,627 mm tall, with a generous 3,094 mm wheelbase, the electric SUV maintains a commanding road presence. Its low and wide stance is complemented by a performance-focused aerodynamic package that includes:

– A larger front splitter
– Side air guides
– Rear diffuser
– Aerodynamic rear spoiler

These enhancements help improve high-speed stability while giving the LYRIQ-V a more aggressive appearance.

An exclusive grey exterior paint finish featuring a nanoscale matte treatment further distinguishes the model from the rest of the LYRIQ range.

Luxury Cabin with Premium Materials

Inside, the LYRIQ-V combines sporty styling with Cadillac’s signature luxury.

The cabin features V-Series-exclusive front sport seats upholstered in Fine Nappa full-grain leather. The seats include adjustable side bolsters as well as heating, ventilation, massage, and memory functions to maximize comfort.

A standout feature is the premium 23-speaker AKG audio system with Dolby Atmos. The setup includes four overhead speakers, creating a 7.1.4 surround-sound experience designed to immerse occupants in high-quality audio.

Safety Remains a Key Focus

Despite its performance credentials, Cadillac has maintained a strong emphasis on safety.

The LYRIQ-V utilizes a cage-style body structure featuring 17 horizontal and 10 vertical load paths to enhance crash protection. High-strength steel and stronger materials account for 74.8% of the body structure.

The battery pack also receives extensive protection, with 99.9% of its structure constructed from high-strength steel and related materials. These measures reflect Cadillac’s ongoing commitment to safety as it expands its electric vehicle portfolio.

Limited Availability in China

The Cadillac LYRIQ-V is available exclusively in China in a limited production run of 124 units. Customers can place orders through authorized Cadillac dealerships, as well as via the brand’s official digital sales channels.

With supercar-like acceleration, V-Series performance upgrades, luxury-focused craftsmanship, and advanced safety engineering, the LYRIQ-V marks a significant milestone for Cadillac’s electrification strategy and introduces a new benchmark for electric performance SUVs in the Chinese market.
