Geely Accelerates European Expansion with Rapid Multi-Country Rollout

Geely Auto has significantly accelerated its European growth strategy, completing a coordinated brand rollout across Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg within just 48 hours between March 25 and 26. This rapid expansion marks a pivotal step in the company’s transition from initial market entry to a deeply localized presence in Europe.

With existing operations already established in Hungary, the United Kingdom, and Italy, the brand now covers nearly 20 mainstream markets across Central and Western Europe—placing it firmly within the core of the global automotive landscape.

Strategic Market Penetration in Western Europe

Geely’s fast-paced rollout highlights a focused regional strategy aimed at securing a strong foothold in key markets.

A notable example is the launch event in Cuijk, the Netherlands, strategically positioned near the Belgian border to support expansion across the Benelux region. In Germany, operations began in North Rhine-Westphalia, the country’s most populous state and a major automotive hub.

To support this expansion, Geely has implemented a robust logistics and service infrastructure, including a regional spare parts center in Amsterdam. This forms the backbone of a “central warehouse + satellite warehouses” system, ensuring efficient coverage across multiple European countries.

Localized warranty programs and 24/7 roadside assistance further reinforce the brand’s commitment to delivering a seamless ownership experience.

E5 and Starray EM-i Lead Product Offensive

Central to Geely’s European push are its two global new energy vehicles: the Geely E5 and the Starray EM-i.

The Starray EM-i introduces a new benchmark for hybrid efficiency, combining performance with advanced in-cabin technology such as a three-screen cockpit and a 16-speaker Flyme Sound 7.1 system.

Meanwhile, the Geely E5 delivers a next-generation electric driving experience, powered by a 7nm automotive-grade chip and the Flyme Auto system, emphasizing intelligent connectivity and performance.

Both models have achieved five-star safety ratings from Euro NCAP, meeting strict European standards for safety, battery integrity, and environmental performance.

Strong NEV Growth Supports Global Ambitions

Geely’s expansion is backed by rapid growth in its new energy vehicle (NEV) segment. In 2025, the company recorded 1.24 million NEV sales globally—a 150% year-on-year increase—solidifying its position as a major player in the electrified mobility space.

The E5 and Starray EM-i have already been introduced in over 40 countries, underlining their global competitiveness and readiness for Europe’s demanding market.

Two Decades of Investment Shape European Strategy

Geely’s current momentum is the result of more than 20 years of strategic investment in Europe. The company’s early move into the region began with its 2006 investment in Manganese Bronze Holdings, followed by high-profile acquisitions such as Volvo Cars and Lotus Cars.

Today, Geely operates a comprehensive European ecosystem that spans R&D, design, manufacturing, sales, and aftersales services. The company has also established R&D and design centers across Germany, Sweden, the UK, and Italy, enabling localized product development tailored to European consumer expectations.

From Market Entry to Deep Localization

Geely’s rapid rollout across Western Europe signals a shift toward a full-value-chain localization strategy. Rather than relying solely on exports, the company is focusing on integrating R&D, production, supply chains, and sales operations within Europe.

This approach is expected to strengthen Geely’s competitiveness in one of the world’s most mature automotive markets, while supporting the broader transition to electrified mobility.

As the brand continues to expand its NEV lineup and refine its European operations, Geely is positioning itself as a key contender in the region’s evolving electric vehicle landscape.
