Volvo EX30 Black Edition Arrives in the UK with Exclusive Styling and Up to 295 Miles of Range

Volvo has unveiled a striking new version of its award-winning compact electric SUV, introducing the EX30 Black Edition to UK buyers.

With distinctive gloss black design elements, exclusive interior details and up to 295.2 miles of range (WLTP combined), the latest addition to the EX30 line-up aims to build on the model’s strong performance in Britain’s fast-growing EV market.

Available to order now from £40,060, the EX30 Black Edition enhances Volvo’s smallest SUV with bold aesthetics while retaining the performance, technology and efficiency that have made it one of the UK’s top-selling electric vehicles.

Distinctive Black Edition Styling

The EX30 Black Edition is offered in a single exterior colour: Onyx Black metallic. In bright daylight, the paint sparkles with subtle metallic highlights, while lower light conditions emphasise its understated, premium finish.

Exterior upgrades include:

– High-gloss black 19-inch alloy wheels
– Tinted rear windows
– Gloss black front grille strikethrough and iron mark

– Black rear Volvo script and model badging
– Colour-coordinated roof spoiler and door mirror caps

Inside, the Black Edition features a unique Indigo interior. Deep blue tones are paired with studio-inspired textile materials and upcycled denim trim, creating a sporty yet sustainable cabin that’s exclusive to this edition.

Performance and Range

The EX30 Black Edition is available in two key powertrain configurations: single motor extended range and twin motor performance.

In Single Motor Extended Range form, the EX30 delivers up to 295.2 miles (WLTP combined).

A heat pump comes as standard, helping maximise driving efficiency and extend range during colder UK conditions — an important factor for British EV drivers.

Advanced Safety and Driver Assistance

As expected from Volvo, safety remains central. The EX30 Black Edition is equipped with advanced sensing technology, including up to five radars, five cameras and twelve ultrasonic sensors.

These systems continuously monitor the vehicle’s surroundings to support the driver. Adaptive cruise control is included as standard, alongside a powered tailgate for added convenience.

Inside, the cabin features: a 12.3-inch central display, Volvo’s air quality measurement system, remote cabin air pre-cleaning and a comprehensive suite of driver support technologies.

Trim Levels and Pricing

In the UK, the EX30 Black Edition starts from £40,060 in Single Motor Plus trim. It is available across Plus and Ultra specifications, depending on powertrain choice.

The introduction of the Black Edition follows the success of similar variants across Volvo’s SUV range. The treatment is now available on six models, including the Volvo XC90, Volvo XC60, Volvo XC40, Volvo EX40 and Volvo EC40.

Building on Strong UK Momentum

The standard EX30 was the UK’s tenth best-selling battery electric vehicle in 2025, reflecting strong demand for compact premium electric SUVs. With its combination of sharp design, competitive range and rapid charging capability, it has quickly become one of Volvo’s most important electric models in Britain.

The Black Edition adds a more assertive visual identity to an already popular EV, giving UK buyers an additional level of personalisation without compromising performance or practicality.

Rob Deane, Commercial Operations Director at Volvo Car UK, noted that previous Black Edition models have resonated strongly with customers, and expects the EX30 variant to follow suit thanks to its enhanced presence and design upgrades.

The Volvo EX30 Black Edition sharpens the appeal of an already compelling compact EV. For UK drivers seeking premium styling, strong real-world range and Volvo’s trademark safety technology in a small electric SUV package, this new variant adds a welcome layer of exclusivity.

With competitive pricing, solid performance and distinctive blacked-out detailing, the EX30 Black Edition looks set to further strengthen Volvo’s position in the UK electric car market.
