2027 Toyota Highlander EV Confirmed as Toyota’s First Three-Row Electric SUV

Toyota has officially confirmed what many EV watchers have been waiting for: the 2027 Toyota Highlander will launch as the brand’s first fully electric three-row SUV.

After nearly three years of speculation and early previews, Toyota revealed new details on Monday, including the Highlander nameplate paired with a BEV badge, officially confirming its battery-electric powertrain.

Toyota first hinted at an electric three-row SUV back in 2022, but details remained scarce. That changed this week when the automaker released a teaser video showing the Highlander name alongside a BEV badge, leaving no doubt about its electric future.

A full global reveal is scheduled for February 10, signaling that Toyota is ready to take the wraps off one of its most important EV launches to date.

While Toyota is still holding back full technical specifications, the teaser confirmed that the 2027 Highlander EV will be available with all-wheel drive (AWD).

In its official statement, Toyota said: “Meet the all-new 2027 Highlander. Featuring sleek, modern lines, an electric powertrain, and a spacious three-row cabin with comfort for the whole crew.”

The focus on design and interior space suggests Toyota is positioning the Highlander EV as a practical, family-first electric SUV, rather than a performance-oriented model.

With the Highlander EV joining the lineup, Toyota will soon offer electric SUVs across nearly every major segment. The three-row Highlander will sit above smaller electric models like the C-HR crossover, alongside the mid-size bZ, and the more rugged bZ Woodland.

This move signals Toyota’s growing commitment to electrification in the SUV space — especially in high-demand family segments where three-row seating remains crucial.

Toyota has yet to confirm battery size, range estimates, pricing, or charging specs, but all eyes are now on the February 10 reveal, where full details are expected.
