Denza N8L EV Launches With 960 km Range and 9-Minute Charging

BYD has added another long-range electric SUV to its growing lineup, and the new Denza N8L EV arrives with some impressive numbers. The six-seat luxury SUV combines a massive 130.15 kWh Blade Battery with a claimed 960 km (596 miles) of CLTC range and an 800V charging system capable of taking the battery from 10% to 97% in about nine minutes.

Even more interesting is the price. The new Denza N8L EV is available in two versions in China. The Premium model starts at 299,800 yuan (around $44,100) making it 20,000 yuan (about $3,000) cheaper than the entry-level N8L plug-in hybrid, while the Flagship version costs 329,800 yuan (approximately $48,600).

The new electric SUV also brings 496 hp, advanced driver-assistance technology, LiDAR, a six-screen interior and BYD’s latest AI-powered assistant, making the N8L EV one of the more technology-packed models in Denza’s lineup.

Range and Charging

The biggest highlight is the SUV’s battery and charging technology. Both versions use BYD’s second-generation 130.15 kWh Blade Battery, delivering up to 960 km (596 miles) of CLTC-rated range. The battery provides a claimed 778 km of range under the WLTP cycle.

For comparison, the four-wheel-drive version of the BYD Tang equipped with the same-size battery is rated at 850 km CLTC, while the Denza N8 with the battery can achieve up to 1,003 km CLTC.

The N8L EV uses an 800V electrical architecture and BYD’s Flash Charging technology. The company says the SUV can charge from 10% to 70% in around five minutes, while a 10%-to-97% charge takes approximately nine minutes.

At launch, the electric N8L is offered with a single rear-mounted electric motor producing up to 370 kW (496 hp).

Large Six-Seat Electric SUV

The Denza N8L EV retains the extended dimensions of the PHEV version, measuring 5,200 mm (204.7 inches) long, 1,999 mm (78.7 inches) wide and 1,820 mm (71.7 inches) tall. Its wheelbase measures 3,075 mm (121.1 inches).

The SUV uses a 2+2+2 six-seat configuration, giving the second row two individual seats. The third row can slide longitudinally to provide greater flexibility between passenger and cargo space.

Denza has also added several exterior details specific to the electric model. The N8L EV features a closed front-end design and a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor. Three new exterior colors are available: Golden Black, Winter Green and Sunset Ink.

A 208-liter electric front trunk adds additional storage space. It also includes a drain valve, allowing the compartment to be washed with water.

Six-Screen Interior With AI Assistant

Inside, the N8L EV is positioned as a technology-focused luxury SUV. The cabin features six digital displays, including the driver’s instrument cluster, central infotainment display, front passenger screen, two rear entertainment screens and an AR head-up display. A streaming-media rearview mirror is also included.

Higher-end equipment includes Nappa leather seats, a suede-style roof lining, translucent Starry Sky Real Wood Veneer and a Devialet audio system.

The SUV also introduces BYD’s DiClaw AI agent, designed to understand complex, multi-step commands. The system can assist with tasks such as itinerary planning and connected smart-home controls.

Denza’s Smart Travel Ecosystem adds additional connected services and applications, allowing the vehicle to interact with compatible smart-home devices and other equipment.

God’s Eye 5.0 Adds Advanced Driver Assistance

The Denza N8L EV is equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 intelligent driving system.

Its hardware package includes one LiDAR, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars and 12 cameras. The system supports highway navigation assistance, urban navigation assistance and automated parking functions, including remote parking capabilities.

The SUV also features BYD’s DiSus-A body control system and dual-chamber air suspension, designed to improve ride comfort and vehicle control.

Denza N8L EV Brings More Choice to the Lineup

The N8L originally launched in China as a plug-in hybrid in October 2025. The new battery-electric version expands the lineup with a model aimed at buyers who want a large six-seat luxury SUV without a combustion engine.

With its 130.15 kWh battery, 960 km CLTC range, 800V charging system and extensive driver-assistance hardware, the Denza N8L EV adds another high-end electric SUV to BYD’s increasingly broad lineup.

For now, the model has been announced for the Chinese market, where its combination of long range, six-seat practicality and rapid charging puts it firmly in the premium electric SUV segment.
