Mazda is updating its all-electric Mazda6e for the 2027 model year with a new powertrain, faster charging, a longer driving range, additional trim choices and improvements to the suspension and driver-assistance systems.
First launched in 2025, the Mazda6e is a fully electric five-door hatchback designed to combine Mazda’s driving-focused character with everyday practicality. The model also recently received the 2026 World Car Design of the Year award.
For 2027, Mazda says the Mazda6e has been comprehensively refined, with the new powertrain becoming one of the most significant changes.
New 78 kWh Battery and Up to 560 km of Range
The 2027 Mazda6e introduces a new powertrain designed to combine the strengths of the two systems previously offered with the model.
At its core is a 78 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, supporting DC fast charging at up to 200 kW. The combination delivers a maximum WLTP driving range of up to 560 km (348 miles).
The new setup is aimed at improving both long-distance capability and charging convenience, making the Mazda6e better suited to drivers who regularly travel beyond urban areas.
The higher charging capability should also reduce the time spent at public fast-charging stations, although actual charging times will depend on factors such as battery temperature, charger output and state of charge.
New Homura Plus Grade Adds a Sportier Look
Mazda is also expanding the Mazda6e lineup with a new Homura Plus grade.
The new version adds gloss-black lower mouldings to the front and rear bumpers and side skirts, giving the electric hatchback a sportier and more distinctive exterior appearance.
Inside, the Homura Plus receives black Nappa leather and Suede Cloth Woven Fabric upholstery, complemented by red stitching. Mesh-pattern decorative elements are used across the dashboard and doors, while a black headliner and electric roof sunshade add to the premium interior theme.
More Interior Choices for the Takumi Plus
The range-topping Takumi Plus grade also receives additional personalisation options.
Customers can now choose between two Nappa Leather and Suede Cloth Woven Fabric interior combinations. The existing Tan interior remains available, while a new Warm Beige option has been added.
The standard Takumi grade continues with its Black Maztex interior. Mazda has discontinued the Warm Beige Maztex option.
Suspension and Driving Dynamics Improvements
The 2027 Mazda6e also receives chassis and performance refinements.
Mazda has increased both maximum acceleration and regenerative braking force, while suspension updates are intended to provide a better balance between ride comfort and handling stability.
These changes build on Mazda’s effort to give the electric hatchback a more engaging driving character while maintaining the comfort expected from a daily-use EV.
Mazda6e Gets Improved Driver Assistance
The Mazda6e’s Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) has also been updated for the 2027 model year.
The Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS) system can now operate at speeds of up to 160 km/h (99 mph). Mazda has also refined Lane Keep Assist to provide smoother and more natural steering intervention.
The navigation system has been updated as well. Additional search and filtering functions for charging stations should make it easier for drivers to identify suitable charging locations and plan longer electric journeys.
2027 Mazda6e Arrives in Europe in November
With its new 78 kWh LFP battery, up to 560 km of WLTP range, 200 kW fast charging and expanded trim lineup, the 2027 Mazda6e receives a substantial set of updates for its second full model year.
The combination of improved charging capability, additional interior choices, revised suspension tuning and enhanced driver assistance keeps Mazda’s electric hatchback focused on both everyday usability and driving appeal.
The 2027 Mazda6e is scheduled to arrive in European dealer showrooms from November 2026.
