BMW iX1, iX2, and iX3 Get Efficiency and Feature Upgrades for 2026

BMW is giving its electric lineup a noticeable boost for spring 2026, introducing more efficient electric drive technology alongside new standard and optional features across several models.

The all-electric BMW iX1 and iX2 are set to benefit from updated power electronics designed to reduce energy consumption and extend driving range. Most notably, the BMW iX1 eDrive20 will adopt silicon-carbide semiconductor components in its power electronics, known as a SiC inverter.

This upgrade improves overall efficiency, lowers combined WLTP consumption, and increases driving range by more than 40 kilometers. The same technology will also be introduced in the BMW iX2 eDrive20 from spring 2026, delivering similar gains in efficiency and range.

Charging capabilities are also improving. The BMW iX3 will gain an optional AC Charging Professional package, allowing AC charging at up to 22 kW. This package also adds Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, enabling the iX3 to act as a mobile power source and supply external devices with up to 3.7 kW of electricity.

In terms of range, the BMW iX1 eDrive20, featuring a 150 kW front-wheel-drive setup, continues to offer up to 461 kilometers of range, while the 225 kW all-wheel-drive iX1 xDrive30 is rated at up to 430 kilometers. The BMW iX2 delivers up to 474 kilometers in its front-wheel-drive configuration and up to 449 kilometers with all-wheel drive.

BMW is also refreshing the iX3’s styling options. From spring 2026, three new exterior colors will be available: Eucalyptus Green metallic, BMW Individual Frozen Space Silver metallic, and Fire Red metallic. Inside, buyers opting for the BMW Contemporary Digital White Bicolour interior can now choose a BMW Individual steering wheel finished in Digital White.

Finally, from March onward, the Contemporary, BMW M, and BMW Individual interior trims will feature a stainless-steel loading sill. Models equipped with the M Sport Package or M Sport Package Pro will also receive a vehicle key accented with M stripes, adding a subtle performance-inspired touch.
