Buick Electra ENCASA Luxury Plug-in Hybrid MPV Goes On Sale In China

Buick has officialy launched of the Electra ENCASA, its villa-class flagship new energy MPV. Built on Buick’s advanced Xiaoyao super integrated architecture, ENCASA combines advanced electrification, intelligent driving and industry-leading health technologies to set a new benchmark for luxury family mobility. The model launches with two trims priced RMB 439,900 ($62,000 USD) and RMB 469,900 ($66,500 USD).

As the flagship of Buick’s high-end new energy sub-brand Electra, ENCASA extends Buick’s 26-year legacy in China’s MPV segment and represents a major evolutionary step toward next-generation smart, electrified family travel.

A Gulfstream-inspired expression of luxury

ENCASA’s design draws inspiration from private aviation, presenting the visual presence of a “Land Gulfstream.” Its spacious proportions — 5,260 x 2,023 x 1,820 mm with a 3,160 mm wheelbase — are paired with a sleek 0.258 Cd aerodynamic profile and an advanced 12-layer dual-tone paint process.

Seven-mode adaptive crystal LED headlights and a signature through-body taillight with 257 ultra-red LEDs enhance visibility and on-road presence. ENCASA’s ceremonial air suspension enables the vehicle to lower by 60 mm, delivering the lowest entry height in its class. Together with gesture-controlled sliding doors and full-vehicle hospitality modes, ENCASA extends luxury beyond the cabin itself.

A spacious, thoughtful interior that extends the comfort of home

Inside, ENCASA’s cabin embodies Buick’s “Aquatic Aesthetic” with high-end materials including full-grain Nappa leather, ultra-suede headliner and a 15 mm Australian wool carpet. Rounded surfaces and soft-touch wrapping in child-contact zones reinforce a family-first design ethos.

ENCASA offers more than 3.6 meters of usable cabin length and a wide, flexible layout. The second row features Buick’s first multi-posture zero-gravity seats, which automatically adjust based on first- and third-row positions and can link with the front passenger seat to create a reclining “chaise longue” experience. With 8-mode, 10-point massage, full-area heating and one-touch rest mode, comfort is elevated for every passenger.

All three rows feature floating-layer seat cushions with mother-and-baby-grade pearl-cotton padding, bringing high-end comfort to all seven seats. A 330 mm powered third-row slide, 49 storage locations, and a 630–2056 L luggage capacity support every family scenario.

Five-constant wellness cabin: a new standard in healthy mobility

ENCASA introduces the industry-first five-constant wellness cabin, delivering a balanced, science-driven in-vehicle environment:

  • Constant Temperature: Dual-layer, multi-zone climate regulation.
  • Constant Humidity: Automatic 40–60% humidity control.
  • Constant Oxygen: Twin-layer fresh-air circulation that maintains low CO₂ levels.
  • Constant Cleanliness: Panasonic nanoe™ X purification, AQS detection, PM2.5 filtration and low-allergen materials.
  • Constant Quietness: Extensive acoustic treatments and ANC create a serene environment.

Health-oriented features include a 1.1-meter TÜV-certified eye-safe overhead light bar, low-blue-light certified displays and OEKO-TEX baby-safe leather. The vehicle’s electromagnetic emissions remain lower than a mobile phone, ensuring comfort and safety for young children, pregnant passengers and individuals with medical-sensitive conditions.

Advanced digital luxury powered by 8-screen AI integration

Powered by Qualcomm’s SA8775P platform delivering 72 TOPS of AI compute, ENCASA offers Buick’s most immersive digital experience yet:

  • 50-inch panoramic AR-HUD integrating more than 15 sets of driving information
  • Three connected 16.3-inch displays for driver, front passenger and infotainment
  • 21-inch 4K rear entertainment screen
  • Bose premium audio system
  • Cabin-wide gesture control via OMS camera
  • Dual 5.5-inch smart control panels for second-row passengers
  • AI voice assistant with four-zone recognition, 700+ commands and creative AI capabilities

These features allow families to enjoy movies, gaming, karaoke or personalized scene modes with seamless multi-screen interaction.

Smooth, powerful performance for every scenario

ENCASA is equipped with the Zhenlong PHEV Pro twin-motor AWD system, delivering:

  • 462 kW maximum power
  • 775 Nm torque
  • 0–100 km/h in 5.8 seconds
  • 80–120 km/h acceleration in 3.3 seconds
  • 1320 km CLTC combined range
  • 224 km CLTC pure electric range
  • 3C fast charging: 30%–80% in 20 minutes
  • 0.8 L/100 km combined fuel consumption; 7.3 L/100 km depleted consumption

Even in depleted-battery conditions, ENCASA sustains 170 km/h cruising with acceleration performance nearly identical to full-battery mode.

Buick’s hybrid battery offers 360° multi-layer protection, pioneering multi-surface liquid cooling and nano-insulation technology. With 640,000 km of durability and a cumulative 2.6 billion km safety record, it represents the highest standard of battery safety in the segment.

Intelligent driving with uninterrupted urban NOA and full-scene parking

ENCASA features Buick’s most advanced intelligent driving system to date, integrating Momenta’s R6 reinforcement learning model, lidar sensing and a high-precision perception fusion framework.

Its uninterrupted city NOA handles narrow lanes, pedestrian-vehicle negotiation, ETC booths, merging and complex urban environments with human-like precision. Full-scene parking assistance supports highly complex spaces with customizable preferences and memory parking.

One-touch valet parking while in motion enables the vehicle to identify and execute a parking maneuver without stopping first, delivering an unprecedented level of ease and confidence in the MPV category.

A multi-layer safety redundancy system pairs a capacitive steering wheel with a driver-monitoring camera, offering progressive alerts and OnStar emergency intervention when needed.
