2026 BMW i4 M60 gains power and range

The autumn of 2025 will bring increased efficiency, range, and in some cases more power to BMW’s most popular lineup of battery electric vehicles.

The 2026 i4 eDrive40 is expected to achieve over 300 miles of range irrespective of which wheel and tire package is fitted. And the range-topping performance model gets a significant boost in power and a new name.

The 2026 BMW i4 eDrive40 benefits from the same SiC inverters previously announced for the i5 range. This means customers can expect over 300 miles of range on a full charge whether they choose 18-inch or 19-inch wheels.

The improvement in range comes from using silicon carbide (SiC) parts in the power electronics (SiC inverters). SiC inverters make energy transfer from the high‑voltage battery to the electric motors more efficient. These SiC components are not only more efficient, but also more powerful and more resistant to heat than traditional silicon semiconductors.

The top of the i4 range receives not only the efficiency improvements from SiC inverters, but more power as well. The 2026 BMW i4 M60, as it is now known, produces 510 hp at start-up – a 41-hp increase from the i4 M50 – and 593 hp when My Modes Sport is selected – up 57 hp from the M50. The newfound power means the trip from 0-60 mph is now dispatched in just 3.6 seconds.

Equipment enhancements to the i4 range include the addition of the Seal & Drive Tire Kit as standard equipment and the addition of the Drive Recorder to the Parking Assistant Professional package. Black mirror caps and M Sport brakes with blue callipers are now part of the Shadowline package on i4 eDrive40 and xDrive40 as well as standalone options. Glass Controls are now optionally available on all i4 models.
