IVECO to provide over 4,000 clean buses to City of Paris

IVECO BUS and Île-de-France Mobilités have signed three framework agreements for the acquisition of clean buses and coaches, confirming IVECO BUS as the main supplier of clean vehicles for Île-de-France.

These framework agreements, concluded through the Public Transport Procurement Organization (CATP), are divided into three lots covering the supply of standard 12-meter electric buses, biogas-powered 12- and 18-meter buses, and 12-meter interurban biogas-powered vehicles. This acquisition could total up to 4,000 vehicles over a period extending until 2032. These vehicles are part of long-standing client Île-de-France Mobilités’ plan to achieve a 100% clean bus fleet by 2030.

The first delivery, comprising 154 GX 337 ELEC and 415 URBANWAY CNG powered by biogas (12 and 18 meters), are scheduled to start in 2026. They will join the vehicles already in operation and being delivered on Île-de-France lines. With this new order, IVECO BUS reinforces its position as the leading supplier of clean vehicles for Île-de-France Mobilités.

IVECO BUS’s 100% electric and biogas alternative solutions have once again been selected for their strong technical and economic performance:

– The GX 337 ELEC, the best-selling urban electric model in France since 2020, meets the most demanding requirements of urban missions.
– The URBANWAY CNG and CROSSWAY CNG are 100% compatible with biomethane produced from waste, ensuring a neutral carbon footprint.

These vehicles will play a central role in supporting Île-de-France Mobilités in the ongoing energy transition of its bus and coach fleet. Since 2016, Île-de-France Mobilités has been implementing the world’s largest bus and coach renewal plan covering its 10,500 vehicles, with the goal of achieving a 100% clean fleet by 2030.

Besides their significant environmental benefits for improving air quality and lowering noise, the vehicles will be equipped with new ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems), enhancing the safety and comfort of drivers, passengers, and residents.

“With this new order of 4,000 vehicles, we are continuing the transport revolution that I initiated in 2016. We are on the verge of achieving this tremendous project of making Île-de-France the first region to convert all its buses and coaches to clean energy. These vehicles will combine carbon neutrality, performance, and passenger comfort. I am also delighted that, with IVECO BUS, we support and sustain a French industrial sector.” said Valérie Pécresse, President of Île-de-France Mobilités.

“By signing these three framework agreements, IVECO BUS, CATP, and Île-de-France Mobilités are strengthening a new collaboration aimed at providing Île-de-France with a fleet of 100% clean buses and coaches. It recognizes the importance of our electric and biogas solutions for the region’s clean energy mix. We sincerely thank them for their continued trust,” said Giorgio ZINO, Head of IVECO BUS Commercial Operations in Europe.

“The Public Transport Procurement Organization (CATP) supports all public buyers by giving them access to advantageous pricing conditions and enhanced guarantees. With its 10,500 vehicles, Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) has the largest bus network in Europe and is among the largest in the world. The pooling of its purchase volumes creates a dynamic that benefits all French communities. By creating a specialized purchasing center, local elected officials have shown their ability to innovate and take initiatives to optimize purchases in the field of public transport and mobility,” added Arnaud Rabier, Managing Director of CATP.
