GM set another EV sales record in Q3 with 66,501 deliveries

General Motors just reported a powerhouse third quarter for U.S. vehicle sales, climbing 8% over the same period last year. This surge shows continued strength across GM’s entire lineup in both electric and gas-powered vehicles.

GM’s momentum in the electric vehicle market is undeniable. The company delivered a new Q3 EV sales record of 66,501 vehicles. Year-to-date, GM’s U.S. EV sales now stand at 144,668, marking an incredible 105% increase from a year ago.

This growth is supercharged by customers taking advantage of the 7,500 federal tax credit. Notably, GM’s lineup is dominating key segments:

– The Chevrolet Equinox EV is now the best-selling non-Tesla EV in the U.S.
– In the luxury EV segment, Cadillac has three models among the top 10 best-sellers: the LYRIQ (#2), OPTIQ (#5), and VISTIQ (#6).

While EVs get the headlines, GM continues to lead the industry in overall sales and is setting new records with its crossovers and SUVs. The company’s crossovers and SUVs collectively hit a new Q3 record, driven by stellar performances from the GMC Terrain, Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse, and Buick Envista, all of which posted their best-ever third quarter sales.

GM is on track to lead the full-size pickup market for the 6th straight year – and to top the full-size SUV market for the 51st consecutive year.

The strong Q3 pushed GM’s year-to-date sales (first three quarters) up 10% to 2.2 million vehicles—the best pace in a decade.

Other key highlights from the quarter include:

– GMC is on pace for its best sales year ever.
– The Chevrolet Trax was the top seller (#1) in the small SUV segment.
– Buick is the fastest-growing mainstream brand year-to-date.
– Cadillac recorded its best Q3 and year-to-date sales since 2013.
– GM Envolve, the company’s fleet business, reported a 20% increase in Q3 sales.

“No one is in a stronger position for a changing U.S. market than GM,” said Duncan Aldred, GM senior VP and president of North America. “We have the best lineup of ICE and EV vehicles we’ve ever had. Our brands have grown market share with consistently strong pricing, and low incentives and inventory.”
