Peugeot upgrades the E-3008 and E-5008 with V2L technology

Peugeot is making some significant upgrades to its E-3008 and E-5008 model lineup, focusing on two key features that will be rolled out across its models: battery preconditioning and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology.

These enhancements are designed to improve the charging experience and add new functionality to your EV.

Ever wish you could use your car’s battery to power a laptop, charge your e-bike, or even run a small refrigerator while you’re away from a power outlet? That’s what V2L technology allows you to do. By converting your EV into a mobile power source, this feature provides up to 3 kW of power through a special adapter that plugs into the car’s Type 2 charging port.

Peugeot first introduced V2L in the E-208 and E-2008 models, and it’s now becoming standard across the entire electric car range. It will be included in all pure electric trim levels of the new E-308 and is expected to be available in the E-408 by the first quarter of 2026. This is a game-changer for remote work, outdoor activities, or emergency situations where reliable electricity is essential.

For many EV owners, especially those who rely on public fast chargers, cold weather can significantly impact charging speeds. Peugeot is addressing this with a new battery preconditioning system that will be standard on the E-3008 and E-5008, and eventually across the STLA Medium EV models.

This system warms the battery before a fast-charging session, ensuring it’s at an optimal temperature for quick power-ups. While the maximum charging speed remains at 160 kW, preconditioning helps the car reach and maintain that speed more quickly in cold conditions. Peugeot says the system can increase the battery temperature by 10 °C in just 20 minutes, which should help you get from 20% to 80% charge in under 30 minutes.

The preconditioning feature can be activated in a few ways:

– Automatically when you navigate to a charging station using the car’s route guidance.
– Manually through the car’s touchscreen.
– Remotely via the MyPeugeot smartphone app when you schedule cabin preconditioning.

This last option is a smart one, as it uses power from your home grid (if you’re plugged in), helping to preserve your car’s battery range before you even hit the road.
